Ottawa County Simulcast

I received word a few days ago that the Ottawa Simulcast cell will be going live on Tuesday October 2. Not sure who is all switching over when but the cell will be live.

Looks like Ottawa County Simulcast is on line .... Pro96com showing site ID 345 (TO32D) with a Control Channel of 853.575 and is connected.

I can confirm that the Ottawa county cell is online right now as well. Still sounds like a October 2nd cutover.

Ottawa County is now live on MPSCS. Just picked up the first transmissions involving Sheriff units.

It sounds like the first units to switch are the Jenison area cars. I heard them dispatching E-48.

Yeah, i'm getting an active 70P911 talkgroup however it sounds like its only dispatch's end. I also heard the state police talkgroup (3069). This is just in the first five minutes of listening today.

Active talking on ID 12987 as im typing, not sure what it is however.

Regarding Ottawa County, I believe what I heard was possibly a patch being set up so that any transmissions on the current analog system are rebroadcast on the Simulcast system and vice-versa during the transition phase next week. I had heard an open carrier on the analog side maybe an hour before hearing traffic on the Simulcast system, and it wasn’t like a normal open mic. It didn’t seem to interfere with any of the regular transmissions. That was followed by a radio service tech asking for a check on the analog side. Tonight when I got back into the coverage area, I didn’t hear anything in the Simulcast system. All calls were on the analog side. I also heard that officers are receiving the necessary training this week.

Not sure who is using TG 12987, but I have hits in SE Michigan for this TG all with Wayne Co RIDs.

UPDATE

For those that don't know yet, currently all the VHF traffic is being simulcasted on the 800 system until October 15th. At which point the system will go live. I'm speculating now but i'm thinking that the October 15th date will get pushed back again. Being that only the fire departments have the 800 radios in the truck and only the police portables are 800. There isn't an Ottawa County cruiser with an 800 mobile radio yet. Tele-Rad hasn't even started to install the mobiles in county cars yet. As far as I know only Grand Haven DPS has the full infrastructure to use the 800 system.

SO AGAIN OCTOBER 15th IS THE CURRENT DATE FOR OTTAWA COUNTY TO GO LIVE!!

I apologize in advance if this digs up some dust from a long time ago but I was wondering if someone could give me a quick rundown of the uses/purpose/difference between having the following sites in Wayne County:

Wayne Co Simulcast
Detroit Simulcast
Penobscot Bldg

My guess is all county traffic is on the Wayne Co Simulcast site and all city traffic is on Detroit Simulcast and that traffic is not broadcast over the other site, correct? And is the Penobscot site a site used for a specific purpose? Just trying to figure out how they have this area setup but I couldn't find anything that explains this...

The Penobscot site is the same location as one of the sites making up the Detroit simulcast, but not on air normally. It is a backup 'site' if the simulcast crashes. It is not automatic, and requires tech to visit to make it active.

Detroit simulcast primarlly covers the city. Wayne Simulcast primarily covers Western side of the county.

... and all city traffic is on Detroit Simulcast and that traffic is not broadcast over the other site, correct?

Just to clarify, the city's traffic is almost all kept on the city sites, and the city radios will not affiliate to a non-city site. (With some exceptions.) Any other MPSCS user on a city site will be processed as usual.
