If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Had I made a single change to the programming, I would agree that I made an error that I needed to track down. The only thing I did was update the firmware. The default alert tone was the only alert that worked, and it was fixed at an ear piercing level, which scared the CRAP out of everyone since we use it for our station package. Hazrat hooked me up, and I was able to revert to firmware 1.35 and everything is working perfectly now.
PM runs against the reason for a forum.

Please detail the fix for the benefit of everyone.

Just seeing this. Curious that you advertised TETRA a few years ago as an "upcoming release" but now it's not planned.
It may partially be that some customers would need the TEA 2 Encryption decoding with it. I don't see that in the Key Utility.

Good morning! I have spent several weeks trying to get my pre-PPS 4.0 CP to load NEW zones using the PPS 4.0 and FW 2.02. Old zones load ok but new zones do not load the WACN, SYSID, RFSS ID, Site ID, Site name or Frequency. Other Zones from this CP still work fine. Last night downgraded FW to 1.35 and still getting problem with old file. Any ideas? Thank you very much.

The downgrade to V1.35 has nothing to do with the PPS issue. You will be better off if you build a new profile from scratch. It may seem like a daunting task, but it isn't quite as bad as you think.

When dealing with multiple systems and zones, it helps if you get started with minimal info entered into your new profile and then export to a .csv to build a template in the correct format. Export the data from your old profile to a different file, and either arrange the data to match the new format, or copy and paste into the new file. Once you get all of the data transferred and arranged correctly, simply import to the new profile. You will have to repeat this process for each item.

When it comes time to set everything up, you can have both profiles open at the same time in different windows. This way, you can set up the new profile while having the old one to compare with.

Hope I made it clear enough.

Thanks for that. I did create a new very basic profile in the new PPS with a zone that was working on the old file and still no joy. The same data as above did not come over to the pager. Should I maybe go back to an older PPS?

Personally, I'd stick to the new PPS and build a new profile. Since you downgraded firmware, you should still be able to use the older PPS to get going again.

Ok. Thanks for that info. I created another new profile and downloaded the RR site and TG files and used those. IT CONNECTS! Thank you. New Problem. When the first call comes over get the ear splitting tone and have to quickly turn off the pager. Any ideas on this. On the conventional group ID list, I did set the alert mode to NONE. But no luck.

You can still build a profile in the new PPS while comparing it side by side with the old PPS by running both programs. The new one is super easy to set up with the RR import, so that alone is a huge bonus!

Thanks Hazrat! Yes, I did use the new PPS to get so all good there. BUT....I need to get rid of the ear-piercing alert tone. Any ideas?

Here's the alert settings on new PPS, older versions are pretty much the same. Also, you can disable the alert entirely by changing the settings for the sub groups on tab E2, but that kinda defeats the purpose of having a pager.

I discovered a bug in .41 that crashes a program module when editing a control channel list. There is a self-reporting function.
