SRSP2282, Do you have anything plugged into the sound cards? Depending on the sound card, the sound card is not available without something plugged into it. If there is a RadioLog.txt file in your C:\ProgramData\RadioLog folder, can you email it to me at support@responderapps.com. Also, the log below the feeds are for the decoded signals. I'm working on adding the list of recorded audio as well.

I do have audio cables plugged into both sound cards. One is the internal card, the second is a USB sound card. There was no C:\ProgramData\RadioLog directory on my drive. A search of my entire C: drive came up empty for a file named "RadioLog.txt"

ResQguy, that could work. What I was thinking was 2 tabs that are always visible (All Feeds and Decoded Signals), then the ability to add more tags for "Groups" of feeds. I would probably add the ability to Mute/Un-mute an entire group, and the ability to show/hide the detailed controls (enabled/record/volume) with a popup for those.

This setup sounds really cool.

I have updated to the latest version and still cannot seem to get the recording function to work properly. I have multiple .wav files that are about 16kb in size, with no usable playback. I deleted the files in the recording folder and there over 9,000 files. Has anyone else been able to get the recordings to work properly. I would like to see one file per feed, not a file for each transmission, which seems what I am getting?? Maybe the issue is on my end, but I have tried on 2 computers. I can send a zip file of the recordings if that would help.

As I stated in an earlier post, the activity light drops in and out with low volume or pauses in the voice, it would be good if that could stay active during the entire transmission, voice or no voice.

Scancapecod had mentioned not knowing if the feed has connected or not or has dropped out. Having some indication that it is on or offline would be nice.

Still unable to load the license key in a second computer.

Great program, keep up the great work.

John, my last attempt at recordings was successful. My only gripe about them now is their size. Joe may provide an option for us being able to choose the level of compression we want. I'm not sure why your files are being chopped up like that, but I was experiencing the same thing until I updated to the latest version. On my Windows 7 laptop recordings were working fine. The one caveat to that was making any changes to the feed itself while it was activated resulted in not hearing the feed anymore. Deactivating and reactivating solved the problem. I found that making adjustments to the feeds is best accomplished by deactivating them first. I haven't tried this yet on my Windows 8.1 PC or my other Windows 7 PC, which leads me to my next suggestion for Joe:

Given that you've very kindly provided us with 3 different locations to install the software Joe, what would be nice would be some type of transportable config file. In other words, I have a new setup here that I would like to at least be similar to the one I set up on my laptop. As it stands now I'm starting fresh. To be able to copy/paste a config file and have the program fire up for the first time pre-configured with my favorite feeds would be nifty.

There will be an update tonight that will not only allow you to change the compression of the audio saved in the files. I will also be adding in different ways the files are saved (current, hourly, daily, etc).

scancapecod, Already on that, I have added import/export settings in the next release. I also have added decoding and logging of tags in the feeds... just trying to filter out the "Scanning..." text so it isn't logged. That may just be a list of text the end user can adjust to filter out.

I have installed the program on a windows 8.1 laptop and a windows 7 computer with the same results with recording. Will wait for the update to see what that brings.

Thanks Joe

Wishlist and reminder items:

1. Wishlist - kill all feeds button. So when the 73 feeds I'm listening to become a tad much, I can croak them all and start fresh.... :D

2. Wishlist - UniTrunker interface. This might be a down the road idea. There is a way to extract alpha tagging from UT and pass it to another program as evidenced here: ScannerBox.us - Streaming live audio feeds to Logitech Squeezebox Radio I wonder if similar use of the remote.dll and sdrsharptrunking.log could somehow send this data into your program.

3. Reminder - Activity is not evident with directly connected scanner when audio from that scanner is received. Along those lines that zany "listen" radio box toggle to kill incoming audio from a direct scanner when it's deactivated. If you're working on these and/or back burnered them for more important things, understood. There's a lot of info flying back and forth here so I figured I'd drop it in again.

4. Suggestion - Display the complete version # of Radiolog in the upper left corner.

5. Way-down-the-road-wishlist - Dual monitor support; this could fall in line with the other display changes you were talking about a few messages back; one window for feeds/scanners/receivers, the other for radio ID info.

6. Observation - Aren't I being a pain in the arse with all this stuff? :D

Seriously Joe, it is nice that you are open to so many suggestions and are acting on the reasonable ones. It's greatly appreciated.

Hi Joe,
I grabbed a licensed version of your software today, and so far I like what I've experimented with. With regards to audio-recording file size, I see you are going to add some compression options tonight & that's great. Any thought to having mpg file saving as an option & the approx 1/10th file size that goes with it? No hurry...I think there are other things more important to tend to in the short term.
cheers

One thing I'm noticing, and maybe someone from RR can chime in as I've never actually seen this posted anywhere, is that there appears to be a limitation to the # of simultaneous feeds that one can connect to. I'm guessing in the neighborhood of 10. I'm pushing RadioLog to the limit with 35 feeds configured. When older ones are active newer ones don't work until the older ones are deactivated. This makes sense, but wanted to provide it as an observation as I don't believe it's been mentioned in this thread.

Here's something on my wish list: The audio recoring files are all stamped by feed & start time of transmission. What I would dearly like to see is the option to specify a start and end time for playback of transmissions on a particular feed. (In my case...a dedicated talkgroup per radio feed...I will be monitoring 5 individual tg's via 5 radios). Once that specification is made, the software would cocantenate all of the files for that particular feed inside of the two stated dates & times, so a continuous playback occurs (no user intervention).

Two additional components to this request though:
(1) include the radioID of the current heard transmission (that metadata attached & synched to the audio)
(2) for the individual 'segments' of the cocantenated file, the file start time for each segment is the reference & then the player begins counting by the second from the reference mark until a new transmission reference date & time is encountered. (This gives a really good approximation of the real world time of transmission).

So: on the screen while playing back the audio, the user sees a date / time / radioID and can listen to the playback (synched against the timestamp) without intervention. Obviously, this is best handled by the inclusion of audio playback within the RadioLog software.

In case anyone wonders...I occassionally have to do investigations regarding radio transmissions & armed with the recording & metadata, it will facilitate far quicker resolve.

No, I don't have money for a NICE or similar logger :)

Clearly this is a large undertaking and I would not expect you to get to this for some time should you chose to. This is a combination of features I would find desirable and have been unable to find a 'simple' software solution to this problem.

thanks Joe

I have posted a minor update, full update coming tomorrow. This update now supports the tags in any Icecast compatible stream (i.e. Broadcastify). It also lists all the feeds in a vertically scrolling list to the left. Tomorrow's update will have the full new screen design, with feed re-ordering, and a ton of other features (file saving format, etc.). Also, with this update, the active source name (from the stream tags) is logged with any decoded signals.
I have been taking everyone's comments and think tomorrow's update will solve most if not all the issues/comments everyone has sent me. It is greatly appreciated.

On a side note, slots are filling up quick on the scanner giveaway, so anyone on the fence should act quickly.

*Disregard* program actually made 2 feeds of same name....

Tag support idea is neat, but it's not syncing up. Tag is appearing maybe about 10 seconds or so before the audio.

Not sure I like the new setup, it detracts from the "visibility" of the software. Maybe you can make each view an option? Running at 1920 x 1080 and with 40 feeds set up I still had three lines worth of data at the bottom. I'd rather scroll that data than the feeds themselves, I think.

I see the full version # has been added, which is cool. Progress is great!

I agree with Scott's comments. I want to be able to see all the feeds at once.

It would be nice to have both options though. I've achieved overload with my setup, but some folks that only use 6 or 7 feeds might find the new way to be superior.

Crap, at this point I can't remember if I originally supported this change or not. See Joe, I'm not happy with anything. I'm the Lucy to your Charlie Brown....I pull the football away as soon as you try to kick it!

I cannot for the life of me get this thing to open.

I have installed the program. When I click on the icon on the desktop, nothing happens. I do see an entry on the task manager process tab but cannot access it. There is nothing in the tray.

Windows 7 Home Premium. 64 Bit

Joe, just had that "chugging" issue that I mentioned last night happen again, and this time I had to kill the process in task manager (@wx5uif, have you tried that and then tried restarting?)

Symptoms were the same radio information scrolling up the screen with three or four entries per second. CPU use also shot up to about 55%. Nothing in the program was clickable once this started.

Windows 8.1 64 bit in this case. A restart of the software and everything was and is fine again.

Edit: I have a radiolog.txt this time, and it is attached to this message.

I did try that. I also tried reboot and also uninstall / reinstall and still nothing shows. Bummer. :(

Shot in the dark but you don't have any anti-virus software that might be precluding it from running by any chance? Another person mentioned that it got flagged as a threat earlier today. It is not one, and the flagging was due to something that's a work in progress.

Just a thought for what it's worth.
