ProScan Version 1.7 Build 2 includes the RadioReference Imports feature, improved Scanner Over IP, and bug fixes.

Supported scanners are the BCD996T, BC796D, BC785D, BC780XLT, BC296D, and the BC250D.

I'm thriving to make this the best Computer Aided Scanning program and suggestions are very much appreciated.

web server broken scanner image

sorry if this has been asked before. I tried e-mailing the prscan support email address approx. two versions ago but I totally understand that Bob Aune is a very busy man. lol

see attachment for what I am experiencing. when I browse to the web interface via LAN or WAN I get a broken image icon where one would expect the scanner image and controls to be. anyone know why this is happening?

I have a 996p2 and it is appropriately set in proscan.
I have proscan version 10.2

thanks

Try on the server instance to view in "Scanner Only (Detached Window)"

mike_s104, thanks for the reply. I believe those options are strictly for the Proscan application GUI, not the webserver interface.

However, I did manage to resolve my issue. I noticed the following in the Proscan manual ;

Web Page Update Interval - The update interval of the web page served showing Current Listeners,
media players on-line, etc... It will use bandwidth so if it's a problem, set to Off.

I set the update interval to off and the scanner image is displaying perfect.

thanks

What OS are you running and the browser type and version?
When you set the Update Interval to Off you brought ProScan to the foreground which cleared it up, not by setting the Update Interval to Off

Dear Bob! Could you please look into?

Custom Search - Search Status unticks spontaneously after reading of scanner. Even you even just ticked all of searches and written everything to scanner, you will see only first (sometimes second) search ticked after the next scanner read. Windows 7 ProScan 10.1. BCT15X with 1.03.00 Firmware. Checked with a few BCT15X scanners. And they are all the same.

Is it bug or something?

Hi N3AAG,
I looked into that just now. That is a characteristic of the scanner. The Search Status checkbox will show checked or unchecked depending on if the scanner is searching one of the custom search ranges when the scanner goes into PRG (program mode). You can see for yourself by observing which search range is currently being searched and put the scanner in PRG mode then send the CSG command and look at the return data. Finally take the scanner out of program mode by sending EPG.

From the "BCT15X_v1.03.00_Protocol.pdf" doc
Radio → Controller
① CSG,##########[\r]
② CSG,OK[\r]
########## (each # is 0 or 1) : 0 : valid / 1 : invalid
The Order of Range is as same as LCD Icon (1 – 10).
Get/Set current status of the custom search range.

Thanks Bob! Good to know. Live and learn!

After thinking about it, I made the "Search Status" column hidden because it could be confusing and not needed as the Search Status comes from the CSG command and the other columns values comes from the CSP command..

Yes, totally agree. It was useless and confusing at the same time.

Recording on Laptop

Need some help with getting my laptop setup so I can record from two proscan programs. I have one running for awhile without any problems. I was doing some searching on splitting the audio between the two radios to be able to record on one soundcard. I cant for the life of me to seem to get it to work right. I have a 15X running now without problems. I would like to add on my 996xt and be able to record the audio from that also. What type of cable do I need to get? I would assume that it has to be a Y-cable with one input to the mic input on laptop and one into each radio?? How do I go about with the settings to get this to work?? Thanks

It all depends on what type of audio inputs do you have. Combined stereo line/mono mic, line and mic, mono mic, stereo mic? Answer that and we go from there.

I've been recently using the Proscan demo with my new 996P2. Great program, and I plan on purchasing a license shortly.

Apologies if this is already known, but I noticed that the Close Call settings that I choose in the software do not appear to get uploaded to the scanner. Is this a known issue or perhaps I am doing something wrong? The general settings appear to upload fine.

Not really a big deal I guess since there aren't a lot of Close Call settings and they can be changed fairly easily in the scanner itself.

Good call. Something broke, looking into it now. Hopefully will have the next version out in about a week.

A few ways to find out
  • Go to the Windows Mixer Recording side and see what it shows and what is enabled.
  • Take a look for anything that looks like an audio jack. If various colors, Google search "audio jacks color codes".
  • Google search "Toshiba Satellite audio inputs" or Toshiba Satellite sound" or something similar.

Ok i have done alot of searching and checking Toshiba site specs. No real info that says in black and white that the jack is mono or stereo. On going through all the stuff on the computer i came up with my decision that it is a stereo jack. Here's my findings -

1. Under Realtek Audio Manager-

Under Microphone - Has slidebar for LH/RH microphone recording volume

2. Under Recording Devices -

Microphone - Properties

Jack Info - L-R front panel 3.5mm jack

Both the Headphone and Mic jacks are black, but after alot of reading that doesn't really mean anything.
