ProScan Version 1.7 Build 2 includes the RadioReference Imports feature, improved Scanner Over IP, and bug fixes.

Supported scanners are the BCD996T, BC796D, BC785D, BC780XLT, BC296D, and the BC250D.

I'm thriving to make this the best Computer Aided Scanning program and suggestions are very much appreciated.

Need help please! Configured Proscan numerous times. Everything seems to be working properly, but I can not connect to my scanner remotely, local or external (configured router). At a standstill. Thank You.

Is ProScan communicating with the scanner?
Are you using the Web Server or the RSOIP feature?
What type of scanner?

Proscan IS communicating with the scanner.
I have tried using both features with no success.
SDS200 scanner
Thank you for you time. It is greatly appreciated
I suggest work on the Web Server first. After that is fully working then RSOIP. Don't setup the Web Server and RSOIP with the same port.
My guess is the Router Port Forwarding is not setup.
Check out the docs RandyKuff posted.

I'm bummed out and a little upset. I am not happy with the ProScan product tonight. I've been trying to load a file all day and the scanner and the computer would not communicate. I had changed the baud rate on both from 19,200 to 9600 thinking that was the problem, but it didn't help. I reset each at 19,200 and the scanner started to communicate once again. I put the scanner in what I thought was the proper mode and hit download. I watched my entire file disappear channel by channel. I checked the scanner and there isn't a program in it, no frequencies at all. My file is now devoid of any frequencies, it is blank. It took me the better part of a week to write it and now its gone.

There aren't any instructions for the software or the scanner that tells you how to download a program and nowhere was it mentioned that I was going to lose my file trying to download. I'm not a big Uniden fan and I've been suspicious of the various software used to program the things. This all comes down to lousy, lousy instructions for the software. I may just give up, not run the 780 again and forget about buying a 325P2.

What type of scanner? BC780XLT or BCD325P2.
I always recommend to use the highest baud rate that the scanner supports.
Just to get the terminology straight. Downloading is the data transfer from the scanner to ProScan. Uploading is the data transfer from ProScan to the scanner. If you actually did a download, the ProScan data will be overwritten with the scanner data. You should of uploaded and not downloaded.

I have a BC780. There aren't any instructions to tell me what you just told me. Some computer programs take a file and you "download" it to a device. The computer is the source and the device is where it is going, to me that is downloading it from the computer into the device. I guess you are telling me that I have to upload it to the scanner from the computer, but again, there isn't one thing in the manual for the software that tells me that. I've now lost probably 20-25 hours of work. The trouble seems that computer techs assume a certain level of computer savvy when they write, or don't write, instructions. Why didn't you put some narrative in the manual that takes a person step by step on how to "upload" data into the radio? I sat for awhile and wondered which to use, but lacking any guidance I took my best shot. All I have to show for the work I've done in the last week is a printout of the program. The file is empty, why would software be allowed to strip data right out of a file? This is not t he first time a lack of instructions has caused me a great deal of grief. It seems like such is the mark of the industry as a whole and very few companies take the time to write good instructions. They should pack a bunch of people in a room, a focus group, and watch people try to follow instructions and see how successful those people are. Then they should write instructions that replace forums like this and technicians coming out to help someone at a work station. Sorry, I'm pretty upset here. The manual for the BC780 is poor as well.

The captions in the Upload & Download dialogs should give away a clue.

Per the ProScan manual
Upload - Uploads data to the scanner from an open database.
Download - Downloads data from the scanner to an opened database.

Great!, now I see it, but again, why no instructions? When you first get a new product you are overwhelmed with choices and things to watch for. You miss the obvious at times. I read down through instructions thoroughly, taking one line at a time very carefully, when I use a product the first time. There are some good instructions about setting up the software to be controllable from remote computers, but not one item about the basics. Never assume someone knows the basics, some of us are very challenged by computers.

I live at 8,000 feet and already I'm behind getting ready for the upcoming winter. I was going to lend this scanner to someone who has never had one before, because the one I lent them about 3 weeks ago is a BC760 that lacks a alphanumeric display. I was trying to get this one ready for them to simplify things, by allowing them to see what the frequency without looking it up on a cheat sheet. I don't have time to rewrite the program now, probably till sometime around Thanksgiving or later. Here I thought I was going to give it to them Thursday and now, who knows?

I'm not sure your complaint is justified about covering the basics. You did get ProScan to communicate with the scanner and you did create a new database file. From what I can tell, you didn't know the difference between uploading and downloading. That's covered in the manual.

es93546 I think you're being unfair and unreasonable with Bob. I can understand you might be overwhelmed but don't take it out on Bob. We all were and often still are at times. ProScan is an extremely advanced, versatile and yes complicated piece of software. It is a work in progress and constantly being modified and upgraded with new features several times a month usually. It is not something you just load up and exploit all it's features and capability without making some level of commitment and investment of time learning it. You shouldn't fault ProScan because you're lacking basic computer skills like how to save/backup a file or find a Uniden BC780-XLT difficult to understand.

Again most of us have spent years learning what we know. We didn't just dive in the deep water without knowing how to swim or at least end up coughing and choking on all the water we swallowed! I can't think of too many software programs today that come with a manual especially with the level of detail your demanding, especially for $50. Did any of Microsoft's software come with something like that? Software manuals are a multi-billion dollar industry. Most everyone hear have a great respect for Bob and his knowledge along with his investment of time and commitment to his development and improvement of ProScan! He supports his user base with extremely fast response, with solutions and a lot of patients more than any other software I've used in my lifetime.

I honestly think you should apologize to Bob, your expectations are unreasonable.

If you worked on it for a week, didn't you save it? Unless you did another save after you wiped it out, you can just open the saved file again!
