ProScan Version 1.7 Build 2 includes the RadioReference Imports feature, improved Scanner Over IP, and bug fixes.

Supported scanners are the BCD996T, BC796D, BC785D, BC780XLT, BC296D, and the BC250D.

I'm thriving to make this the best Computer Aided Scanning program and suggestions are very much appreciated.

Im using Proscan to log and tag uids. Just wondering where in the recording does it determine the uid when there are multiple, even with the 'each transmission new row' checked. It seems almost inconsistent. Sometimes it is the beginning of the transmission, and sometimes at the end.

Thanks
The Recorder is not really recommended for UID's as many will appear on the same channel. It high on the list to make a separate recorder just for UID's. Similar to how the UID Logging grid is separated from the History grid.

{edit} I see you have the "Each transmission New Row"' option checked" so that's good. The UID's are logged as they come in from the scanner.

Has anyone started to experience ProScan locking up or crashing lately? I've had 3 emails reports come. It doesn't appear to be version specific. 1 report was on ver. 17.0 (using NET Framework 2.0) . I'm suspecting a Windows Update broke it. I have isolated the problem to one specific area thanks to the folks that emailed me and sent me back test data. I redid that area and received back favorable results.

Try this version 17.2.3. Let me know if this one fixes the issue.

This file also includes the following:
  • Changed - UID Logging grid column UID After Lookup (Editable) automatically updates the UID Lookup file.
  • Changed - Button "Event Viewer" changed to "Generate Bug Report" that generates more debug info.

OK "Mr Proscan Bob" I've figured my way thru my first set of question. So far I am liking the software. Now onto my next question on the webserver.

I do not understand the explanation on the password. I have read it in the manual and I feel stupid, but it does not make sense to me. All I really want to do is password protect my scanner so only the small handful of people I personally know can access, listen, and review recordings/history. I've tried different combinations and I can't seem to get everything locked down. I can lock down file access, but you can still start the audio stream without a password. I just want everything locked down so the scanner can not be used in anyway without a password.

Could you help me understand the password setup?

Thank you,
Bob

To prevent the audio from serving, put in a password in the "Serve Audio Stream" box.
To prevent the virtual display from serving, put in a password in the "Serve Scanner Monitor Mode" box.
Put a password in the "Scanner Control Mode" and give that one out.{edit} for others to review the recordings, put a password in the "Serve Folders & Files" box and give out both passwords -or- Put a password in the "Super User" box and give that one out.

When I type in a password for scanner control the files do not show up in the explorer. I can’t access any recordings.
Put a password in the "Serve Folders & Files" box then log in on the web page with both the control & serve folders passwords or just put 1 password in the "Super User" box. That way only need to log in once on the web page using the Super User password.
Before starting the server, select the Serve Folder Location.

I had it set to a different folder. Thanks!

Hey everyone, I am looking for help with my recording feature on Proscan. Everything appears setup correctly, a new row gets created and the row is highlighted during the transmissions, however, my recording time never goes up and there is nothing to play back. What is going on with this? Any ideas?proscan1.JPGProscan2.JPG

Does the scanner stay on an active channel or does it automatically starts scanning again? If the Resume Scan/Search function is set to Instant then that would cause this.
Does the History Logging show the duration the same?

John, did you send Bob an email as he suggested in This post?
He is very good with working to fix issues with the software and get you test versions to try.

Also, simply stating "it will not run" is a bit vague on details. To me that indicates that clicking on the desktop shortcut does absolutely nothing. No start then crash, no popups saying it couldn't be found, no huge explosion from deep within your computer. Nothing.
If you get error messages, do a screen shot or remember the info that shows up.
Good luck.
