ProScan Version 1.7 Build 2 includes the RadioReference Imports feature, improved Scanner Over IP, and bug fixes.

Supported scanners are the BCD996T, BC796D, BC785D, BC780XLT, BC296D, and the BC250D.

I'm thriving to make this the best Computer Aided Scanning program and suggestions are very much appreciated.

Hello to everyone on the list. I am new to Proscan, meaning I've been using it a few weeks now. The software is really helpful in my monitoring habits and has opened up a whole new door for me.

I am having an issue where the software seems to be functioning properly logging hits and audio grabs, a few times now though I have been unable to listen to the audio files. When trying to play them from the recorder tab, once pressing "PLAY" the highlight bar quickly alternates to green from blue and nothing happens. I then try to listen to the file using VLC via the finder/file explorer application (forgive me I am a Mac user). VLC reports an issue with the file. I am hoping this is a common issue and that I have not discovered the worm hole audio capture.

I made two recordings during the creation of the post. I punched in a local FM sportstalk radio station (94.1mhz FM) for testing purposes. One prior to restarting PROSCAN, this being the state I was greeted with this morning when having my coffee and checking the overnight hits and the second after restarting ProScan.

I did notice in the file explorer window, the columns to the right of the file name were incomplete in the error based file (pre restart) compared to the working file (post restart). Maybe this will shed some light onto my issue.

To review my specs are
Windows 10 (20H2)
Intel Core 2 Duo E7600 @ 3.06GHZ
16 GB RAM
BCT15X
Prolific USB to Serial Com Port
ProScan 17.2.1

I have another little issue I can't figure out. I am running two BCT15x via proscan.

BCT15X - "Green" using prolific usb to serial cable
BCT15X - "Blue" using 9pin serial cable native from BCT15X packaging with a Belkin PSU109 USD to Serial unit.

Both instances of ProScan are set the same.

I have selected OPTIONS>GENERAL>PROGRAM ICON>DISPLAY COLORS and SHOW ACTIVITY COLOR ON PROGRAM ICON

Both instances show the appropriate color in the windows title bar, but only the green instances shows a green icon in the taskbar, the blue instance shows the default icon in the taskbar.

Also when I upload to the scanner from the blue instance, the system seems to reset. I have to adjust the key beep settings, I usually keep it at Level 1. Once I upload to the Blue instance, all go to default.

I will keep experimenting

@ProScan already addressed that in a reply to you. The most recent test version is 17.3.0, but it is not yet publicly available. If you still have a bug or issue that hasn't already been recently acknowledged in this thread, send an email per ProScan's instructions in the post just above yours.
Will, send emails from now on!

Sorry this reply was originated or tagged onto #6403, in any case, I have the following;

Windows 10 (20H2)

An update. Today I set my machine's screen to turn off when hitting the power button.

This caused the issue to happen again.

Has anyone experienced this?

The two folder are located:

That's good. I would for testing purposes, test with just one instance and one issue at a time. Use the blue instance since the blue instance shows the default icon in the taskbar. Try changing the Program Icon to a different color and see if the task bar and caption icons change to the same color.

I haven't heard of these types of issues before. I don't know if this is related to the Win Updates causing ProScan problems.

  • Changed - UID Logging grid column UID After Lookup (Editable) automatically updates the UID Lookup file UID LOGTEXT field.
  • Changed - Event Viewer button changed to Generate Bug Report that generates more debug info.
  • Fixed - Favorites Editor wasn't showing the Audio Type channel parameter on Motorola systems.
  • Fixed - Favorites Quick Keys were turned off after writing to the scanner.
  • Fixed - Stability issue caused by a suspected Windows Update.
On the Stability issue:
I never was able to duplicate the problem on my Win 10. It seems to occur only on Win 10 Home & Pro. I don't know exactly which Win Update was doing it but most everyone reverted back to a version that was stable in the past and reported that the old versions are crashing too.

Thanks to all the testers. 6 in all. I was able to isolate the problem to one function. The function was reworked and now I have 5 out of 6 reporting that it is stable or fixed. The 6th tester is reporting that it is still crashing. We exchanged 35+ emails. It's just something on his computer that is not working well with ProScan.

I haven't had a crashing, or hanging start, problem on Win 10 Home. I guess I am doing something right(maybe).

Any request should be by email so you can help test it and it gets a higher priority.

Hi...is there a way to increase the time buffer between the end of a transmission and when the recorder stops? I'm currently recording using 'activity', and i think i'm clipping the very end of the transmissions. I can try the 'vox' setting to see if that improves things...

I can confirm I read the 536 saved the file wrote to the scanner and it turned on all list.
Win Pro 10 64bit version 17.3
That stinks, that's 1 of the reasons i like pro-scan over butel. Butel turns everything on when you reprogram, and with 96 QC its a pain to turn them all off again

Not sure if related, but here was a pretty buggy Windows 10 update of .net affecting WPF apps among other things.
