The info is coming from the scanner. Try turning on the option "Scanner Data To 'Scanner Data.txt' File" so when this happens again, look at the Scanner Data.txt file to help determine where the problem is. Option is located in the Options - General tab.

Hi,
Thanks for getting back so quickly.

I have done that, and here is the first result. I didn't manage to screen grab it when it happened, but the scanner screen and the Proscan image of it both had the same (correct) system-group-channel displayed for for 124.275 (which corresponded to the scanner data.text log entries), but the grid (highlighted in blue) and the history log do not.

Version 17.0 uses the .NET Framework 2.0 so insure that is enabled or installed. I don't have a XP machine so not sure how to do it.

Skideric, I had an XP system for years.

It was:
OS: XP SP2(then 3) 32-bit
Mbd: 1Ghz
Host Adapter: SCSI AHA-39320
HD (10)SCSI AHA-39320 200GB HD's
FD: 3.5"
CD: IDE DVD-ROM
Case: Full-Tower
RAM: 1GB
Video: (don't recall except that it was SVGA capable)
.NET: Framework 2.0

While those are the specs of my old computer of two years ago. Looking at your post, and comparing your specs to my old computer. Since you had the same(not identical) problem with FreeScan. "Did you do ANYTHING(deletions, upgrades, etc.) recently, to your computer?

I was trained in PC n' Network Repair, along with training as a CNA(Certified Novell Adminstrator). But that was 25+yrs. ago. So, The advancements in technology, and the cost in upkeep of training. Pretty much made that training useless, except for building my home networks.

I am so glad Bob is devoted to Proscan.

Question about the Audio LoopBack feature.

I had my SDS200 connected to a dedicated computer (HP laptop on a powered docking station) via USB and Audio cable & everything worked as it should for months.

I've since purchased a USB WiFi Dongle (Vonets VAP11G-300) and have everything working wirelessly.

About once or twice a day I notice I no longer have audio coming from the computer speakers. Proscan is still receiving data AND recording audio, but the only way I can get sound to come out of the computer again is to toggle the Audio Loopback off/on. Then all is well again.

Any thoughts on why this is? The laptop is set to never sleep and I never lose connection with the SDS200 on the wireless network.

Appreciate any ideas. Thanks!

I'd look through Device Manager really good paying attention to the devices listed under any USB named categories. Things like USB hubs will often have a Power tab that will be checked to allow the device to be turned off.
Check all the devices under the USB listing by right clicking on them and selecting Properties. Then look for a tab that says power or something similar.
Do the same for the network devices under the network category and again do the same for the devices under the Sound, Video, etc devices category.

Then from Control Panel, open the Power Options icon.
Click the change plan settings. Then click change advanced settings.
Once you are on the Advanced Settings screen, scroll down to USB setting. Set the USB selective suspend setting(s) to disabled.
Reboot for good measure and see if anything helped it stay alive.
I've had some luck doing the above on some machines but I've also had some that no power savings settings changed a darn thing and I never figured out the cause.

Thank you Kruser, my problem has resolved it self. Bob A. has given me a lot of help and advice. But I did a cleanup, removing a bunch of old programs and did a registry cleaning, the problem so far is gone. I have turned all of the "power saving" settings to off way back when I first got the computers. Even when I go mobile I am not using the internal battery. I have a 120 Volt A.C. power source. It is working as advertised for now. I give Bob A. many thanks for the help and others who gave constructive help. So to all thanks very much.

I've gone through all the power settings (including USB) but the computer is not using anything other than WiFi to connect to the SDS200 now since I have the radio on the WiFi Dongle.

ProScan on the computer is continuing to record audio and receive data, just no audio out of the speakers until I toggle the LoopBack box in the app (ant not changing anything else).

Can anyone explain how the "Find and Replace Service Type with Alert Color" function works in Proscan? I was hoping to assign alert colors on a SDS-100 based on Service Type (Fire = Red, Police = Blue, Fed/Military = Magenta, etc.), but when I tried to use the function on Proscan, it just deleted every service type in every channel. I must be doing something wrong or misunderstanding the function. Here are the settings I used:

Find & Replace = Conventional Channels
Parameter = Service Type
Find What = Aircraft
Replace With = Cyan
Then I clicked "Find & Replace All", but the program just cycled through every channel and deleted every Service Type in every channel. It deleted every service type (fire, police, aircraft, etc) and not just Aircraft. Plus it didn't change the Alert Color.

Doing this by hand in Sentinel time consuming and tedious. I was hoping there is an easier automatic way to do this.

I had a similar issue with different hardware on a USB mic/speaker combo. Try this .... Find the Device Driver for the input device which is receiving the sound from the scanner into your computer (microphone/line-input, etc.). There should be a setting for "Listen to this Device" (yes or no) and "Playback through this Device" (one of the choices should be your computer speakers).

Edited to Add: There should also be settings which say "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" and "Give exclusive mode applications priority".

I haven't seen this before. Can you go to the Audio Control - RSOIP tab and the Playback side. See if the level meters move with audio. Perhaps try changing the Output Sound Device from Primary to the 2nd choice.

Thanks but that's if the scanner audio is coming in through a sound device. In this case, it's coming in on the LAN.

That could have something to do with the problem.

It's suppose to change the Alert Color and not the Service Type. I'll look at this before the next release.

If every Service Type was deleted besides Aircraft then the "Find All" box was probably checked.
