ProScan Version 1.7 Build 2 includes the RadioReference Imports feature, improved Scanner Over IP, and bug fixes.

Supported scanners are the BCD996T, BC796D, BC785D, BC780XLT, BC296D, and the BC250D.

I'm thriving to make this the best Computer Aided Scanning program and suggestions are very much appreciated.

So I realize this may have been asked in this thread before, perhaps more than once, but we're 378 pages in so I'm just going to ask...

In Sentinel, 'Profiles' don't function like I think they should...it doesn't affect favorites lists, etc. In other words, I want to have different FL settings on one scanner than I have on another (such as, location based turned 'on' on one while it's 'off' on another). Does ProScan let me have different profiles (or whatever terminology is used) on different units? Save one file one way for this unit and a different way for another?

Writing Favorites to the scanner does not affect the profile. Exceptions are during the write process, two or three options will appear. I'm not in the office so I'm going by memory 1) Turn on the Service Types used in the Favorites. 2) Turn on the FL QK used in the Favorites. Uncheck them will not affect the profile at all.

Thanks for the reply. I guess the problem I'm trying to solve is that I like the same FLs on various scanners but I write to different scanners. One scanner, that I use in my truck, I want location based scanning to be on where as on another I don't used location based.

In Sentinel, if I turn off location on a system in a FL it turns it off no matter which profile I load in Sentinel. In my mind it should be different per profile but they didn't make it that way. I'm hoping that ProScan is the solution.

Looking at this closer, I think ProScan will operate the same way as Sentinel since the Location Control is a favorites option and not part of the profile. That can't be changed in ProScan as we have to follow the scanner way of doing things. I think you have two options. 1. Use a different FL per scanner. Copy a FL to a new FL then change the Location Control option. -Or- 2. Before writing to the scanner, change the Location Control option in the FL.

OK thanks. I wish they (Uniden) had designed that differently but it is what it is. I’ll come up with something. ProScan is easier to use than Sentinel so that makes it a little easier.

I’m new to pro scan. I’m in the trial period and finally got the scanner to play through to my computer speakers. One thing I seem to have is an essentially static/whine when between transmissions and scanning. I have no interference for any other devices. Any help would be appreciated. Ty

That's entirely too vague a post for anyone to provide any real help. What model scanner? How is it connected to the PC? etc.

My apologies. I realized it after I posted. It’s an sds100 and it’s from the output jack directly to the mic on a dedicated sound card. I know I hear the “hum” on loopback. I set up a web server inside 1st and on any device when not transmitting there is a hum or more of a whine. When transmitting it is perfectly clear.

Try turning down the Win Mixer Mic input a bit and turn up the scanner volume a bit.

buddrousa post # 7551 recommending a Ground Loop Isolator will solve the AC hum in most cases.

Is there a way to just open the favorites editor when i start the program,or does the web server have to be open to run the editor ? When i right click the icon and choose run minimized, the client still runs i think ?

Yes, go to the Web Server tab then click the Start/Stop button. To prevent the Web Server from starting when ProScan starts, go to the Options - Start Up menu then uncheck the "Web Server Auto Start" box.

{Edit} While you're in the Start Up options, check the "Database Favorites" box if it's not already checked.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this but I'm at a loss...trying to import the Entergy P25 system (electric utility) but I'm not finding it. It's a multi-state system (AR, TX, LA, MS, MO, TN). I'm not sure if I'm just looking in the wrong place or overlooking it but when I go to the RadioReference import function of ProScan I'm not finding where to go to grab the Entergy system.

OK. I'm sure there's a reason (some detail on the RR db side) but it doesn't show up under my county. That's why I wasn't seeing it. I do see it if I select some other counties, though. Didn't think of that being a factor since it's a statewide (multi-state) system but, again, it's something on the RR side I'm sure.

Here are the counties that are listed in the RRDB.
