If I remember correctly since the 800 MGHz rebanding you have to change the frequency band plan in the settings when programming the BC996T. I had to do this for a Friend so his BC996T would work with Starcom21. My BC996XT could get the correct frequencies from the CC data stream. My BC996XT Scanner was bought in 2009 and did not reqire the change to the band plan. Here is a link with instruction for the Uniden scanners.

Thanks Vascar. I've been away a few days and appreciate your help. I have the 996T software open now and will try to Understand this and correct it. I assume the band plan is entered once under the Starcom21 system. Thanks again. Greg

Been trying to figure out what TG 3686 is, 100% encryption, phase II. Figured it out tonight: it's Glenview Police, patched to/from 470.7625.

I'm back again. Spent most 0f the weekend trying to get NWCD on my 996T and Pro 106. Not a chance. Software for both scanners allowed me to insert the "rebanding" info, but still no help.

I am wondering if either scanner has the capability to work with the phase II system? I have no problems with my 496. Greg

THANK YOU for your reply. This now takes a lot off my mind and stops All the work I have been doing searching, trial and error, etc. It was a long and painful weekend trying to make something work...lol.

This, however. brings one more thing to mind: Is it true that the NWCD here in Northern Illinois is using Phase II? I'm sure they are, but a confirmation would be appreciated.

Thanks again. Greg

For some things. Actual dispatch talkgroups for both fire and police are Phase I, everything else - fireground, tac, public works, etc. - is Phase II.

Quite the kick in the balls tonight. Bought a used 996XT to get into the digital trunked game out here in VA (stationed here) and was going to be home in IL for leave for a few days. Used to listen all the time at home to the point that I still have some of the frequencies memorized, so I go to the db to start figuring out what I want to program to listen to when I am back.

Everything I want to here is phase II......

I am not dropping another 350 on another scanner after I just bought this one.

So disappointed.

How, will it do phase II?
It won't but most of Illinois is still phase 1 and will be for some time since the Illinois budget lacks the money for new Apx radios. 73, n9zas

I understand your disappointment. Can you sell the 996XT to someone else?

Uniden will allow us now, or in the near future, to upgrade the 436 and 536 to pick up DRM ( Or is that DMR?) channels. ( I understand nothing about it) They already do digital and phase II.

I only mention it depending on how heavy you are into the scanning hobby. You may need a good outdoor antenna as well. If you really enjoy it both of these radios will take you into the future.

Just a thought. Good luck.
