My brother lives off Rt. 10 near the Plainville/Southington line. Last Sept. I had no problem reading H on a 536 when I was there visiting.
Are there any 536 owners near that area who can advise me if reception has changed +/- since the switchover? I plan to be there again
this September and curious if I should look for a different antenna, etc. Had no problem with the stock BNC last year, TIA.

Hi. I live in western Hartford County, and have an SDS200. If some TG's have changed to TDMA, would i need to do a database update for the scanner to pick up the change?

Nope, I'm in the Philly area. I'm just monitoring the thread for a friend in Connecticut since you just went p2 and I'm trying to figure it out for them.

I use rooftop VHF High, UHF, 7-800 ground planes. We have pretty much all simulcast systems now. My last neighboring County just went over last week replacing their 500 megahertz type II smartzone system with a P2 tdma system.

My own County system is very strong, for that I use an apx 7000, a 100 and 2 200s... my older Uniden radios like the x36s and the others don't work so hot on simulcast distortion secondary to LSM. Whistler's don't work at all.

We have some nxdn and a great deal of conventional stuff to listen to like the Marine Band and Aviation, I'm right on the Delaware River a little north of Philly.

Thanks for the generous offer!

Quick question, I see that the Connecticut State Police is streamed but not the Far Western three troops L, A and I... the streaming is not offline. Has your entire State now gone P2 or are you in a period of transition or flux from P1 and only the three Western counties mentioned have recently gone to phase 2?

I'm particularly interested in troop L with site 031 in Lynchfield, the three talk groups 501 503 and 505. That should be dispatch, car-to-car and encrypted secure Ops Channel. The control channel should be 859.7625 and the NAC is 3A1h.

If anybody could give me some information, is that now active and how is the reception? What kind of testing did they do as far as coverage and dead spots?

Sorry that I might be going over a lot of stuff that's already been done on this very lengthy thread and I have read a lot of it. Just trying to pin this system down for my friend. Thank you very much for your help everybody.

And thank you again cheeseburgers for your generous offer... Bob.

troop L isnt that active. They do talk an average amount. I never hear car to car much anymore on any CSP. i think they use their phones alot. and encrypted cant listen to that so wouldnt know.

I got my HP-2 on Saturday. I heard no action with Troops A, L, and I, or anything else on the system. So far I'm not happy with the radio. I entered my zip code and I got systems from New York State. How do I program just location action ??
The ZIP code function is based on systems it thinks you can hear from your location. You should be able to change the radius in the settings.

They definitely use their phones a lot, everytime you hear give me a 33, or call my 33 or i sent something to your 33, thats them using their cell. Probably because their MDTs are always broken

Yeah but it's your location. I'm not surprised.
There's a few things I can suggest to try, you say it was working well on P1 until Wednesday when the system switch to P2.

You probably want to transfer the configuration to Sentinel before making any changes so you have it the way it originally was before we do this. You don't need to be connected to the internet.

Now on the radio itself...

I'm going to assume your site NAC operation in settings is on ignore. Go into settings and change it to use site NAC and back out of menu.

Go back into the menu to manage favorites, pick the favorites list the system is programmed into, go to review edit system, choose the system, go to edit site, choose site 031 or Lynchfield, go to set p25 NAC option, go to set p25 NAC, if it isn't already in there then put in 3A1h, press enter and back out all the way in the menu.

Make sure you are on ID scanning and not ID searching. Apply site hold to the to the Lynchfield Tower by using function Dept. Sit on talk group 501 which should have the Alpha tag troop L dispatch. Your control channel is 859.7625, is that there? How many bars are you getting? Are they steady or are they bouncing around? What is your RSSI and noise level?

I would also suggest if you have not already arranged it to get that cool antenna from Cheeseburgers. That just might give you the Boost that you need while in your apartment.

If I have some time this afternoon I'll create a FL and set the NAC and the other suggestions you outlined above. Thanks for that.

Yes it has been on ignore.

Troop L and A are the closest to me.

The antenna @Cheeseburgers mentioned is on Ebay but I don't have an account there.

I have another SD card coming for the HP-2. Is the radio worth keeping ? I do have a BC785D and BCD396XT still running

If you are trying to use it for CLMRN only then personally I say no since it doesn't really track it that well.
You can keep the SD card though since it'll work in an SDS100 or other scanner you may want to acquire.
If you have any analog or regular P25 systems near by it'll track those just fine.

Sorry about my faux pas, I don't know your area, I'm just trying to get a hold of the system, so it's Lynchfield, I misspelled it, sorry about that folks. ;)

As far as the antenna I think Cheeseburgers said he had an extra one for you and to contact him. Why don't you give him a PM.

The SD Card is corrupt. I called Scannermaster and inform them of the problem and they said that I needed a new card. I really wanted to return the radio but that would cost some money. So I might get stuck with an unwanted radio.

No no, scannermaster is a very reputable company, if you are within the return window and you are not satisfied with your radio because it's not performing as you thought it would and it's not going to be working well on this P2 simulcast system then you just return it.

You might want to look at some of the other radios people are talking about here and exchange it or just get a full refund of your money.

If you are outside of the return window that's a horse of a different color. LOL

I occasionally hear the car to car TGs used as a 2nd dispatch channel. For example, if a incident occurs that requires multiple troopers to coordinate info or a response the dispatcher may ask troopers not involved to switch to the car to car channel and they will dispatch new calls there, effectively turning the dispatch TG into a Tac channel and the Tac channel into dispatch. With the new encrypted TGs i don't hear this as much, but it still may occur.
