"The only scanners that have a hope for hearing any of the transmissions on CLMRN are the SDS". That's a completely false statement. My pro 668 works great on the system. It's all about location for me.

I don't want to sound stupid, but I'm less than informed on how simulcast works.
With my dsd, i can hear almost everything even on the other side of the state. On my scanner(i don't have much talkgroups saved) but should I be able to hear the whole csp even if I'm in troop L area?

me too. I'll try zero and see if that makes a diff. nope zero didnt work. Stopped Scanner on Hartford Fire 800 channels. Back to 2 for now.
Unfortunately Unidens preset for squelch #2 is way too tight for my liking. I miss alot of weak control channels due to this. I keep mine set at 1 whenever possible. I know it isn't always possible depending on your situation. Preset 0 and 1 are open squelch of course. Why do we need 2 open squelch settings: Stupid design. Setting 1 should be set for right on the brink of closed squelch. I wish the radio has an analog squelch pot like my Whistlers. Or make it software adjustable like all my commercial radios.

You didnt read what I said. I said in MY LOCATION the SDS are the only ones that work. I never said no other scanners would work for other people in other locations.

On my Pro-197, for the past month or so, I am no longer receiving any troops or Car2car TGs but I am only receiving DEEP & Metro North here in New Haven area. I was always able to hear Troops A, E, F, G, I & K but nothing in the last 30-45 days. Anyone know a fix to this or should I upgrade? Thanks

(No problems on my 396xt that I can see)

I have used a photographic tripod with a yagi fastened to it. If you have one where the head can be removed, that works better.

I am currently in search for a coat rack or some other kind of apparatus to mount a mini discone on to see if CLMRN will come in better from home since the switch to phase II.

DEEP and Metro North are still Phase I. Everything else is now Phase II.

I'm having a hard time understanding how CLMRN simulcast works.
I had unitrunker running and got a lot of hits from stuff I would never hear normally.

I bought dsd+(what a great program) I'm using 2 sdrs and listening to conversations from the other side of the state from where I'm at, but with the sds100, I'm able to hear maybe 2/3 different troopers that are near me. I don't have much for TGIDs saved but when I ID Search) I don't hear the same stuff that dsd+ does. Can someone please help me understand and possibly help me fix it so I can hear everything that dsd "sees"

Try turning off the site NACs. That helps a lot. Also on the SDS, make sure the squelch is set to "2" and not any higher.

If you have talkgroups programmed in the scanner, they have to be turned on. Simply switching to ID Search will not allow traffic on groups that are locked out or groups where the Quick Keys are off.
If you are not sure or don't want to mess up the programming for that system, create a new favorite system with only the single control channel and nothing else, no groups, NACs, other freqs, etc. Use that for reception testing.
Also, pay attention to frequencies used. I have found that my 996P2 does not like Troop H 700MHz voice traffic but doesn't miss on the 800 traffic.
