New LWIN Tower for St. Tammany Parish

This post is from the St. Tammany Parish site:

St. Tammany Parish Government officials cut the ribbon today on a 450 ft. communications tower that will have the capability to link into a state-wide network of 126 similar facilities throughout the State of Louisiana. This 18-channel tower will have the capability to simulcast to eight sites including, Abita Springs, the St. Tammany Parish Department of Animal Services Animal Shelter, Blond, Covington, Pearl River, Slidell, Talisheek and Waldheim. It will connect to a master site in Baton Rouge, the hub of the Louisiana Wireless Information Network (LWIN) system.

This radio tower will enhance the interoperability of all emergency operations and first responder agencies within St. Tammany as well as within the State of Louisiana. In some cases, it will allow interoperability between agencies in multiple states.

For more information on the LWIN system, visit Governor's Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness | State of Louisiana.

In other words, St Tam is going LWIN, converting the EDACS over to an LSM site. Hope you all have Yagi antenna's or BCD436/536HP's because your about to find out what multipath distortion is.

Has anyone been able to identify where site 420 is located. It has to be close to St. Landry, Acadia parish area because of the traffic I hear from that area on it.

I never realized it was Villeplatte. Actually that site is listed in the DB twice, under Villeplate and 420. Need to submit one of them for removal. The listing for Villplatte is a different site number than the 420 listing. And shows two different CC's. Site 420 CC is correct in the DB

A lot of the tower sites or different, changed, etc. I need to get off my lazy butt and submit all the revisions but I just keep track of them on my excel sheet and software. I absolutely despise how radioreference has it laid out and avoid the entire database on my scanner and have reprogrammed everything.

New LWIN Site?

Has anyone heard of any new LWIN sites being built or going online south part of the state. I heard Radio techs in the area doing some test and checking out the performance of a site. Unless they were working on an existing site. The way it sounded, it was a new one.

What city are parish were you in hearing radio checks? We've been having issues and is the reason our area has not switched yet. We will hopefully resume testing next month. Also what talkgroup we're they using?

It was in the Franklin, St. Mary Parish area. They were doing the same type of testing and checks when they added another new site in the Gibson area. Not sure which Talkgroup. I do know the id was Radio Tech.

With so many sites being built closer together, I am starting to find its getting harder to receive them because of so many of them using some of the same frequencies and control channels. I know it may sound strange. One example is, I use to be able to pickup Jeanerette and Montegut any given time from the Bayou Vista area. Now that they are using the same CC, I cannot receive them any longer. If i hold on each of them all I hear is interference. Same thing with Gray, St. James and Bayou Towers sites there is a 700 freq. somewhere close enough that is over ridding each sites CC keeping me from hearing them from here. I used to be able to hear them around the clock. If I were to go that way with my scanner when I get close to Amelia or more eastward I can pick them up very well and also depending on the weather occasionally the signal is strong enough I can hear them. I used to not have this issue until they started adding so many sites with using some of the same freqs. I guess there isn't enough 700 freqs. available without doubling up. Is anyone else experiencing this same issue.
