The CHEVY call sign is used by Fort Wayne F-16's now. They are called the Black Snakes. Those are Fort Wayne freqs.

234.900 is U-08 / BTN 08 now. For MTC A-10's.
The A-10's have 2 Uniform radio's now. So your going to have a Prime list, & an AUX list of UHF freqs. So far I haven't heard the A-10's use any of the old Battle Creek freqs.

A-10's in Milford area

Was at the beach at camp Dearborn in Milford SAT 15th, was surprised to see a couple of A-10's doing multiple low runs in the area.
Are they known to maneuver in this area ?

That's not a normal operating area for the A-10's. I've never heard of the Milford MOA. ;~D

One of them probably lives in the area, & was showing the other guy where his house was. They could've been killing time for a flyby at MIS for the Saturday race. There is a small airport to the NE.
That's why I always have a scanner with me, just in case something like that happens. ;~)

Flyover

I think Milford had some sort of event or festival over the week end. This was probably a flyover for that event.

The A-10s are not as sleek looking as the F-16s are they?

Thanks for this list!! I've been hearing quite a bit of chatter on 314.4 between the A-10s.

I tried to program some of the frequencies above but the scanner rounds up the frequency. Is there any way to stop it?

It depends on the scanner. See if there is anything in the manual about changing the step size.
Some scanners have the wrong step size programed in them, for that freq range.

F-16 Falcon, most would say "much sleeker".
More important to me, much louder and faster, also.
Obviously, different aircraft for different purposes ,,, Both excel at what they do.

I like A-10's, would have been nice if Selfridge had a couple squadrons of both, like when they had Phantoms & A-7's, or F-106's & F-100's - But no question about it, A-10's would be viewed as a step down from an F-16 by just about anyone.

Two Toledo F-16s were scrambled to intercept

WASHINGTON – U.S. military officials say a small, single-engine plane crashed near Muncie, Indiana, after operating erratically. The pilot may have had a health problem or was suffering from a lack of oxygen, they said.

Military officials do not believe it is terrorism-related, said a spokesman for U.S. North American Aerospace Defense Command. Instead, Michael Kucharek said the pilot may have blacked out due to a condition known as hypoxia.

FAA spokeswoman Diane Spitaliere confirms the private plane crashed at about midday local time in a swampy area near Muncie, Ind. She said the pilot had been unresponsive to air traffic controllers. He had filed a flight plan and was headed toward Muncie, she said.

The plane crashed in a swampy area on a farm near Muncie, officials said, adding that the pilot was the only person on the plane. Kucharek said the pilot took off from a small airport near Grand Rapids, Mich., and was at an altitude of about 23,000 feet and descending slowly. He said the plane was heading south-southeast and had been speeding up and slowing down to dangerous speeds. Law enforcement was on the scene.

According to Kucharek, the plane was a single-engine propeller M20M Mooney, and it had about four hours of fuel left when officials noticed the problems. Military aircraft were launched to check the plane. (MUDDY Flight)

In 1999, a charter jet crash killed pro golfer Payne Stewart and four others, flew halfway across the country on autopilot before crashing in a pasture in South Dakota. Everyone on board had apparently lost consciousness for lack of oxygen after a loss of cabin pressure, and the plane crashed after it ran out of fuel, investigators said.

I was getting out of my car this evening around 6:00 at Texas Roadhouse on 23 Mile east of Gratiot and saw a C-130 going into Selfridge. Anyone pick him up? Just curious where he was from.

This is a duplicate of my post in the MD Milair IV Sticky; heard this last night and passing it along.

"I decided to just hit the sack last night and record any more comms to check today. Summary of everything as follows:

MIRAGE 21 FLIGHT (3x AV-8B) had departed Patterson for an evening mission. OTIS 18 (KC-130J) may have also originated from there, but I had interference on another frequency and may not have caught it.

MIRAGE 21 and 22 returned to Patterson late in the evening. MIRAGE 23 stayed with OTIS 18 in their track; no ID on where they were, the SUA maps didn't show any activity. MIRAGES were on interplane 308.200 and discussed that the tanker wanted them on 136.150.

All the following activity was on 136.150:

OTIS told MIRAGE to contact HENCHMAN/HENCHMAN or VALHALLA on "BRICK" 283.600. Later comms mentioned them as "ground guys" and calling them "for tasking."

Also had MIRAGE calll PHARAOH on 281.900. OTIS said they were only recieving them while in the NE corner of their track.

MIRAGE 23 said NEWCASTLE (no frequency) may be "off the net," but later reached them briefly...said they were cutting out.

OTIS and MIRAGE were AR through most of this time, but it seems like OTIS may have had trouble retracting their hose again...said they were going to leave it out and retract it when they got closer to landing. OTIS later gave MIRAGE weather for Patterson, but I never heard either of them with the tower."

The MIRAGES appear to be VMA-223 Harriers (hard to ID, all are wearing low-vis schemes and ship modexes). There are three of them - they've been at Patterson since 9/22. OTIS 17 (KC-130J, 165735) arrived with them on that date and dropped off 72 pax and some cargo. All signs point to them operating out of here for a while. They've been flying two to three sorties every day, and using the Atterbury and Jefferson Ranges quite a bit (though they have been to Buckeye/Brush Creek MOAs as well). OTIS 18 (KC-130J, unid) is also here for the time being.

Frequencies noted (not including local frequencies - centers, ranges, MOAs, etc.)
136.150 AR w/OTIS
236.250 MIRAGE BASE?
281.900 ???: "PHARAOH"
283.600 designated BRICK: "HENCHMEN," "VALHALLA"
308.200 primary interplane

A reliable source told me there have been some frequencies changes and perhaps a totally new radio system, being used at the U.S. Army TACOM facility in Warren. Can anyone confirm?

Also, it was rumored awhile back that Selfridge was going to switch all their ground communications to a new trunked system in the 380MHz band. Any developments on that?

Thanks

I assume the radio changes are coinciding with the change in the phone system. In that case, then yes.
