I just work these up by hand in Photoshop using a Land Sat image of Michigan. The most important thing is to make sure your antenna is above the local tree line especially with summer approaching, and if needed a good low noise pre-amp from some place like Down East Microwave.

Yep, that is one of my first plans for thaw out time (Probably mid May around here)- put up a new antenna.

I am working indoors (in my 2nd story apt) with a multiband Dipole I have constructed, which is giving me pretty decent reception- better than the Duckie that is.

I can't wait to see what I hear with a new antenna though!

Does anyone have info on when Selfridge is having their Airshow?
I go every year and don't want to miss this one.

Funny you say that... I heard my first milair transmission last night, it was first on the 632 area and was an air refueling. They were talking about "making contact." Then I heard them on Steelhead saying "Lights on, Camras on, go." Or something like that. What could that mean?

It was in the evening.

I was very excited to hear my first milair!

Sounds like they were luminating the space and camera's were on to take pictures of the refueling ex... Re-Fuel takes place over me in the West end of the U.P., and they have been busy. Last night they wanted to have the sunset behind them so it would take a nice picture.

I heard a brief and slightly out of range Steelhead transmission today. Anyone else hearing it?

Missed it. Currently monitoring Macomb, and Shelby, man though the ice at Stony Creek, Eastwood Beach. Head and shoulders visible. Dive team on the way.

Last night (March 27) around 10:00 P.M. I heard "Piston 51" telling Selfridge Approach that they were headed to their alternate airport which was Grissom. Anyone have an idea why they were headed to their alternate airport. The weather at Selfridge was fine.

AIRSHOW UPDATE

According to the Macomb Daily the Golden Knights will jump, they will celebrate the base's 90th birthday, the Air Force's 60th birthday, and the usual civilian performances will be there.

Does anyone know if the call-signs Demon, Tejas and Yalta were used when the units were flying the F-4 Phantoms and the A-7 Corsairs or have they changed throughout the years? I'm just curious.

I remember Demon was used with the F-100's & A7's. I don't remember for sure what the F106's, & F4's used. The C130's that were at Selfrige used Ram Head I belive.

Marine reservists are returning home today after a tour in Iraq. There's a Sierra Pacific 737-200 due in to SANG from March ARB at about 4:30 this afternoon.
