Yes, I suppose so if it hasn't been around for a month or more. He has kind of disappeared from his project.

PS: I still love the app. There is nothing quite like it.

The web site does not respond at all. Time to remove it from the wiki?

Website is gone. I can't get an activation or download to install my already paid for software on a new machine. I'm literally out the money now.

Since the program/app itself is still valid and used by RR members, even though the support-website is inactive, the related Wiki page has been restored, and marked accordingly..

This way, anyone who wants to know about the product can still find the Wiki page and learn about it, and if the program/app's creator decides to support it again later, the links can be updated on the Wiki page accordingly at that time.

In general, for general knowledge purposes, it's generally better to keep the Wiki page for a particular software-product and note that the product is no longer available or is no longer supported, as of a certain date, than it is to completely blank the Wiki page.

Thanks,

I'm in the same boat, I bought the program a while ago and I'd like to get a new computer during the upcoming sales, but I just realized there's no way to install the program or activate it on the new computer!

Anyone know where the guy went? This is a great program and I have yet to find an alternative to it.

Yes! Please! If anyone has a line on this guy, Let us know. I've got a machine that was fully running it and after a six month respite, Refuses to start now. I've a feeling the program regularly talks to a licensing server to keep it running. Now, it just refuses to do anything. C'mon! at least give those of us who helped fund this project by buying it the ability to continue using it in it's present state. Or better yet, hand it off to a coder to continue...

+1. I'll pay to keep a forever license or two.

Grrrr, not the news I was looking for seeing everyone else in same boat. I got a new computer and want to put this onto it. I love this program and it is such a huge help for what I do. And I do not think there is anything else like it,

So some good news and some bad news.

As everyone knows Joe shutdown his site and stopped production of his software.
However we made a version of the source code available, I was able to compile the source into a working program.

So good news is that I was able to get the program running on a PC that never had it before.
The bad news is that something in the code or my setup is not correct and causing an error.

The code is not the same as the version I purchased, there are some minor changes. For example the Motorola Turbo option is not there. So I don't know how much this version was tested and if it is a 100% working code.

The first time I tried to compile the source, the program would crash because I was missing a file. After I fixed that issue, the program does run and work.

So at this point I am trouble shooting the code/my configuration and trying to find the source of the issues. What I was able to figure out today is that the log file fills up and once full the program crashes.

The message in the log, if anyone has an idea what it means, I haven't figured it out yet.
[Gray] - Sound Sample Byte: 0 = False

So far I have had the software running since the last post without crashing.

The software seems to be in verbose logging mode. I was able to comment out the lines of code that was causing the most issues for me. Seemed like it was logging every bite of audio. .
It would fill the hard drive and crash.

With those lines of code removed now it is just logging standard stuff and MDC id's. Going to remove these lines also as the MDC ids get logged into another file.

The log is set to a 50mb limit but it's check only when the program starts. Once running the log was running away.
Now after a few days the log is just under 1mb.
Think with removing the extra logging, we should be good to go.

The next step after this is to figure out the licensing to make sure I can release it. Joe left some instructions, now have make sure I understand it all properly.

Final thoughts.

The basic functions of the program are working with the exception of the ability to use a turbo radio as a modem.

This is great news! If I can help out in any way, I'd be glad to. I really do love using this program, and it's a shame that the author of it chose such a horrible system for validation, by having to always "call home" to verify.

This is very good news. I do not need the TRBO stuff, I just really need the recording and outputs like the program had along with the MDC IDs. It was very robust in that format of being able to take four radios from different sound cards and recording them while outputting the mixed audio to a sound card.

If you need a beta tester, I'd be happy to help.

Quick Tip

I was talking with someone and they mentioned how hard it was to use the software for scanning large agencies and managing the units on the fly, especially as HT's might change each shift.

Now the normal way to do it is to add every unit to the Manage Units database, and then under manage radios, assign them using the drop down menu.

I've found that to be really slow and cumbersome, so what I've done instead is cheated the system a bit. As you can see from my manage radios window. I have 3 place holders for the most common units on an incident, 0 for E (engine), 00 for LF (light force), 000 for RA (rescue ambulance), and I leave the Agency set to LAFD.

now when there's a key up, I simply change the ID to whatever code pops when it decodes (say 6AAE), fill in the radio name for the apparatus, and then Role name is what role they are on the incident (Roof, IC, Ops, Div A, Branch II, Safety), Personnel I fill in with their rank/job (Captain I, BC, EIT, Tillerman, A/O) and leave the unit drop down blank and hit ok.

It's quick, fast, and the 3 placeholders are never overwritten, they just stay 0,00,000 with the E, LF, RA so I can fill them out over and over again.

I've attached two pics that might be helpful
