Thanks, I'll be trying additional recommendations today after getting the lawn mowed for the last time for winter. I'm also trying to read the manual. I do have one question that I can't find in the manual. They have a symbol in the manual that is a black square with a white circle in it. What the heck button or does this mean? i.e. example, "Press (black square with white circle symbol) then SQ to start Fire Tone-Out in any mode except GPS. They use this black square with white circle symbol everywhere but cant find the definition of it and don't see the symbol on the face plate. Thanks I appreciate everyone's time and help and I'll get this programmed hopefully sooner than later.

That is the Function knob or big knob.

Also gonefishn1 reply doesn't apply to the BCD996P2. He's thinking of the BCDx36HP types.

Thanks I was getting more confused trying to figure things out. I wasn't able to find the settings that gonefishn posted so it confused me more and drove me back to the manual. The new DaneCom P25 system I got uploaded into the scanner database as I can see it. Now it's just trying to get it to scan what I've uploaded. That's my problem I'm trying to figure out now and was getting more confused. Is it okay to post my new BCD996P2 questions here or should I start another thread in a new forum being these aren't really related to the software being I've got that issue resolved? As always I appreciate the help.

If it's a ProScan question then this forum is most appropriate to ask questions. If it's more of a scanner question then one of the Uniden Forums may be better.

PROSCAN install question. I have a subscription to ProScan and have it installed on a couple of WIN 7 Pro computers. On one computer I'm not having any problems and it boots fine into the program. On the other computer I keep getting the opening window pop up and say "Windows Font Setting Not at 100%. ProScan works best when the computer font setting is at 100%. Continue?" I believe that I installed both when the font setting was 100%. But then after the install and updates I changed the font setting to 125%. On one computer it runs fine at 125% but the other at 125% I keep getting the opening 100% message. Is this just an anomaly or should I do a reinstall at 100% and then change the font setting afterwards to 125%? Or is the system designed to give this message regardless if the initial install was at 100% and I just have one computer that accepts it running at 125%? Hope this all makes sense. Thanks

Click the yes button to continue then go to the Options tab in the Start Up section and uncheck the option "Check Font Setting Not At 100%" so you will not get the message again.

I would love to have a small volume slider on the display so that I can adjust no matter how the display is configured, especially when it's minimized to just the display or front panel.

BCD996P2 Programming

WOW I am so confused programming the BCD996P2 but I think others may have been here too. I uploaded the DaneCom TGID's from radio reference and they are in the scanner using ProScan see picture attachments. I've been reading the manual and Easier to Read BCD996P2 Manual on the web. I'm now totally hung up. After uploading to the scanner what are the next steps in ProScan? I've included three pictures of what is in the database that was uploaded. I'm trying to do a cheat sheet Word document for myself. If I get the first one done then I can do others. It's frustrating that I'm hung up at this point as I know the TGID's are in Proscan as I can see them. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't see any site nodes under the system node. Those are needed as they contain the frequencies. Go back to the RadioReference import and after you retrieve the data, check that you have at least one node labeled "SITE" checkbox checked before you import.

After that, upload again to the scanner.

ProScan, You're a GREAT HELP!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!! I went in and found the Simulcast and "Sites". Downloaded the 1st time and I had more than 20 groups so I had an window pop up when uploading to the scanner saying it was more than I could upload. I went back through ProScan a second time and selected only 20 groups including the "sites" and downloaded and then uploaded to the scanner. Now I understand how to use the software and upload to the scanner. One last quick question. Is there any rhyme or reason to programming the scanner. In other words, if I want to separate groups i.e., Law, Fire, Public works, and various agencies and download and import them into the scanner can I use this software to tell them or direct them to exactly where I want them placed on the scanner?

I'm glad it's working now. You can have groups for Law, Fire, Public works, etc.
Click the Add button and select Groups. A new group will be created. Rename it Law.
Next to get the channels or TGID's into the new group, click an existing group to expand it. Now Copy & Paste or mouse drag the channels into the new group. Before uploading, assign GQK's(Group Quick Key) to the new group/s so you can turn off or on each group.
If you don't assign GQK's then the group will be on by default.

Thanks so much for all the help!!!!!!! You've alleviated some of my frustration. I've developed a cheat sheet as I'm sure I'll forget how to do all this stuff. One last quick question for now. When it stops on a frequency some of the voices are coming through garbled like every other word. In the HAM Radio arena it's usually related to reception but straight as the crow flies I'm about 5 to 8 miles from the tower so reception shouldn't be an issue. I also have the scanner hooked up to an external scanner antenna in my attic. I thought I watched a youtube video where someone said to change some setting from "auto" to "8" and reception would be better. Have you ever heard of this? Thanks again for all your help it's been greatly appreciated.

Quick question, BCD536HP, the recorder on Proscan.

Recently I went to listen to a recording and noticed the radio traffic of channels is being recorded twice on the same file is a delay. IE "Medic 10, sheriff" squelch tail. a second or two later "Medic 10, Sheriff". squelch tail.. a couple second pass "Medic 10, go ahead" squelch tail. a couple seconds pass, "Medic 10, go ahead". This is only in the recording. When I goto the archives on broadcastify, they are recorded properly. It is only the local recordings that are doing this.

Just wondering if anyone else has run into this problem, or if I switch a setting without realising it.

Thanks, and hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

System & Site

I've been testing the trial version of ProScan 11.4 with my 536HP via WiFi.

Is there any way to display the Trunking System name with the site name? I haven't found anything to show it.

I have several LTR systems in the area that have sites in Bend and Madras. Without the System, it makes it difficult to tell which one it is, especially if I have new entries I'm trying to figure out.

For examples row 2 - 4 of the attached pic would be better listed as:

0-01-048 WESTERN RADIO / BEND - BUSINESSES - SECURITY PROS
0-13-056 TOTAL NETWORK / BEND - BUSINESSES - CHECKER CAB
0-01-148 SLATER / MADRAS - BUSINESSES - REDMOND TAXI

and if CHECKER TAXI moves to the MADRAS site it would then show:
0-01-056 TOTAL NETWORK / MADRAS - BUSINESSES - CHECKER CAB

What would be cool is if it could be set up like the title bar caption and allow the users to specify what they see. :)

Thanks,

See if the recording option "Recording Prepend Buffer" is set and if so turn it off to see if it makes any difference.
