"without database"

I'm curious about this software and am about to download the demo. But what exactly does "without database" mean? It's with respect to the BCDx36HP radios, of which I have one, but ... what? You don't have access to the Uniden-supplied database on the card? I also have a pair of BCD996XTs *and* a BC780XLT, so this software has a lot of potential.

I do see that my premium RR account can be used for import ... but ... still ... "without database" ??

The database support like the ProScan database support for the other supported scanners. Database containing the systems and channels on a file. It would be like the Uniden sentinel favorites editor. I'm not sure I will be doing this. It will take about 3 months to do and working on other ProScan related stuff now.
Most uses Uniden sentinel and for features that Uniden sentinel doesn't have uses Butel ARC536.

I've been testing the trial version of ProScan 11.4 with my 536HP via WiFi.

Is there any way to display the Trunking System name with the site name? I haven't found anything to show it.

I have several LTR systems in the area that have sites in Bend and Madras. Without the System, it makes it difficult to tell which one it is, especially if I have new entries I'm trying to figure out.

For examples row 2 - 4 of the attached pic would be better listed as:

0-01-048 WESTERN RADIO / BEND - BUSINESSES - SECURITY PROS
0-13-056 TOTAL NETWORK / BEND - BUSINESSES - CHECKER CAB
0-01-148 SLATER / MADRAS - BUSINESSES - REDMOND TAXI

and if CHECKER TAXI moves to the MADRAS site it would then show:
0-01-056 TOTAL NETWORK / MADRAS - BUSINESSES - CHECKER CAB

What would be cool is if it could be set up like the title bar caption and allow the users to specify what they see. :)

Thanks,

Good suggestion so I added it in. Look for it in the next release. I made it an option. All the other Uniden scanners has the site names (and not trunking system names) in the serial port data stream so I wanted to maintain consistency. Option will be located in the Options -> Scanner Specific tab.

Understood (at least after I actually downloaded the software). Not as useful to me if I can't replace Sentinel+Freescan+ARC780. The remote interface sure is nice, though.

BTW, if anyone is running ProScan on Windows 10 inside a VirtualBox environment on OSX, are you able to see the scanner when the scanner is in Serial Port mode? VB sees the radio and ProScan sees the radio's port inside Windows 10, but ProScan can't seem to talk to the radio. I'm fairly certain this is a VirtualBox thing and not a ProScan thing, but thought I'd ask here anyway.

There's more to it then that. All database scanner programs are not the same and I think I have more features within the database portion then anything out there and the next three releases will be getting more power to the database.

Awesome, I'll look for it and give it a shot.

:( All I want for christmas is database for bcdx36hp scanners. Where do we beg? Seriously, where can we beg for database?

Most uses Uniden sentinel and for features that Uniden sentinel doesn't have uses Butel ARC536.

We are stuck using sentinel because database is not in Proscan. I have Butel for other scanners and really don't care for it. Sentinel is lacking, well there are threads about that...

All I want is a vacation! Everything takes time to do and this one got bumped down so work can be done in other areas. One of the factors in deciding on features is users recommending ProScan for programming to others when asked. Work was started last year and I was going to retire from my day job of 30 years to complete it but decided to canceled it.

Proscan is the best as far as I am concerned. I highly recommend it. Take some time off, thinking a three day weekend. Then back to work with ya! LOL.

Honestly, I would love the DB the x36 series, but I also know how much you work you constantly put into this program on a almost constant basis. Keep up the great work.

Evening Bob,

Sorry if this was asked and answered already:

Range rings not showing up in Google Maps view. Is this a Google API issue? Noticed it two updates ago.

Thanks,

Mike

I think it's the internal browser. Uncheck the "Use Internal Browser" option for now until I can get to it.

{edit} It's fixed. Look for it in the next release.

Is there a way to get the Metadata information to display on the screen longer? Mine runs 1-2 seconds at best. I would suspect there is a simple code that can be used to increase the time.

Thanks.

The metadata is not shortened. Perhaps the web page "Update Interval" option should be decreased.

ProScan Version 11.5 Release

This has one of the most requested items. Uploading to the scanner selected Systems, Groups, Sites, and Channels. So now if a parameter was changed, it can be uploaded without uploading the whole database.

What's New In Version 11.5
  • Added - Database - Systems tree right click menu.
  • Added - Database - Upload or Download selected channels by right clicking on the system tree.
  • Added - BCD536HP and BCD436HP Option to display trunking system names. Located in the Options -> Scanner Specific tab.
  • Changed - RSOIP - Client Auto Reconnect now will keep trying to reconnect if server is turned off normally.
  • Improved - Database - Systems Tree Drag & Drop and Copy & Paste nodes across ProScan instances.
  • Fixed - Google Maps internal Web Browser wasn't showing Range Rings.
  • Many more small improvements.
ProScan supports the BCT15, BCT15X, BC250D, BC296D, BR330T, BC346XT, BC346XTC, BCD325P2, BCD396T, BCD396XT, BCD436HP (without Favorites editor), BCD536HP (without Favorites editor), BC780XLT, BC785D, BC796D, BCD996T, BCD996XT, & BCD996P2 scanners.

ProScan is the most powerful and feature rich scanner software in this world !!!.

Maybe I should have said that I am using Source Client.
It appears that Priority running may be a contributing factor even though it is setup on 10 seconds.

The metadata from the scanner is sent out without any type of modification to the time displayed. Look at it on the Source Client side before it's sent out. I don't need to do any work on this.

I understand Bob, I was simply trying to understand why the metadata displays for only a second then is gone. I noticed if I turned OFF Priority that metadata displayed longer. I get accused (not by you) of providing too much text describing a problem or asking a question. So I cutback and then don't get my question answered. Yes, I totally agree that some people provide to much. Yes, I understand that you are busy working on bigger problems. But my question was simply a question that I could not find a answer to anywhere. Bless you.

I would love to see a database option for the BCDx36HP's. Great software, that option would make it so much better. Right now I have no way to easily see rang rings for multiple sites all at once, any way you can bump this project up in the list?

Happy holidays!

Happy Holidays Ben,
Everything takes time to do. Perhaps one day or 3 months I'll have time to do it.
