I just got my 536HP a few days ago. I have been playing with the wi-fi and pro scan and I have the data aspect working fine (also have the RH working) but I have the audio issues that I have seen others mention previously (pg 85 of this thread). I cannot connect to VLC either. In Proscan the TCP/UDP numbers will bounce around and the UDP will never connect.

I am running the program on parallels on my mac. I am not running a firewall on the mac side and I shut off the windows firewall. I have the latest dongle and scanner firmware. I have checked, double and triple checked the URL that I have entered is correct. I have cycled the power on the scanner several times and the router and tried the different IP address assigned after restarting the router. I'm connected using infrastructure mode. I'm using an Apple Airport Time Capsule router. I'm on Time Warner Road Runner internet.

Anything else I can try here? The one thing I noticed and I'm not sure if this is normal but the IP address of my scanner starts with a 10. Obviously since I can't get this to work in VLC (tried on the computer and VLC on my iphone) I'm guessing this is an issue between my scanner and my router? Before I go fishing deeper I thought I'd ask here. Thanks for any input, I greatly appreciate it!

smp928s,
I'm not aware of anyone having ProScan audio issues with the 536 Wi-Fi. Can you provide a link. This thread goes back only 50 pages.

If you have another app accessing the Wi-Fi audio, turn it off as only one app can access the Wi-Fi audio at the same time.

IP starting with 10 is ok.

Are you inputting the URL exactly as shown in the example below the URL box?

What is the URL?

{edit} If someone does have audio issues then it's operator error.

This was from page 84. The difference between my issue and his is that I can't get VLC to work either.

One issue suddenly came up. This happened before but went away, now it's permanent.

I connect the scanner control OK via the URL that's no problem. But when I connect the audio I get about 290 bytes TX'd and nothing happens next.

I ran wireshark and the RTP packets are flying alright. VLC will read the audio too. Must be a ProScan issue.

I don't have any other apps accessing wi-fi audio.

Here is the URl with my scanner's IP: rtsp://10.0.1.4/au:scanner.au

Here is the URL below the URL box: Usage: rtsp://192.168.1.5/au:scanner.au

Also with mine the TCP NOT CONNECTED goes away then comes back. The UDP NOT CONNECTED is constant

I'm sure it is operator error on my end, just not sure where :)

URL looks okay. For some reason, something is blocking traffic. I don't know what it could be but it's outside of ProScan. Maybe someone else knows.

I setup my iphone as a hotspot and connected my scanner to that hotspot. I was then able to get the Siren app to work perfectly with audio as well as on VLC mobile on my iphone. So... It isn't the scanner or dongle. It is something to do with my Apple Airport router I'm thinking...

That sounds more like a dsd plus problem. I just wanted to clarify that so no one thinks the DMR frequencies needs to be entered twice in ProScan or the scanner.

996P2 is up and running and it works awesome on DMR. Thanks for the awesome scanner software.

Setting PL tone or NAC

FYI, A user asked me how to set the PL tone or NAC on a conventional frequency channel. It's greyed out.

For CTCSS and DCS, set the Audio Type to "Analog Only" first.
For NAC and Color Code, set the Audio Type to "Digital Only" first.

Couple of bugs I found with the latest version:

1) Uploading a newly created DMR One Frequency Trunk does not add the frequency to the site.

2) Importing of user ID's from hpe files results in a % symbol in front of each ID.

Is it possible to add the timeslot to the history tab when scanning DMR systems?

Item 1. I can't duplicate. Are you uploading by clicking the "Upload To Scanner" button and not right clicking the system tree?
Do you see any Upload Errors?
Do other systems upload trunking frequency channels?
Email me your DB text file so I can try to duplicate the problem.

Item 2. That's by design. It can be changed to not to prepend "%". The prepended % tells ProScan that it's a UID and not a Talk Group ID received from the scanner.

Item3. If the slot is in the answer back data then I can put it in just like the BCDx36HP scanners. Off hand, I don't think it appears but I will double check that.

On item#2, I removed the prepended " % " char in front of the UID Text Tag but kept the prepended " i " char in front of the UID/TGID.
On Item#3, I don't see the slot in the returned data, If you see it in the Display or in the data on the Text & Extra tab, let me know.

Slot 1/ Slot 2 is displayed on the scanner screen under Display Option 3 per my 996P2.
Maybe the scanner has to be in 'Display 3' before that data is sent to ProScan software.

On the 996P2 display screen.

CON,DMR,CAP... under Display Option 1
CC3 ,etc... under Display Option 2
Slot1/Slot2... under Display Option 3

Thanks, I'll work on putting Slot 1 & 2 in the Frequency part of the History Log.

Does the mute button also mute WiFi audio?

I believe that I've tripped on what has been causing me some grief with my 536HP, audio - less recordings showing as being in the recorder window and in the PC folder but when one tried to play them there was no audio recorded. It seems that when I hit the mute button on the 536 it also kills the audio going out to the WiFi it is recording from.

The mute button is very convenient for me but I could get along without it if there is no work around. Does anyone know of a work around so I could the mute without killing my recordings?

I've found that with the 536 and WiFi, the mute button kills not just the recorder audio, but also the Remote Scanner over IP audio.

To answer your question in the Subject line "Does the mute button also mute WiFi audio?"
Yes. The Mute / Speaker icon button mutes the Wi-Fi audio and sets the scanner volume level to 0.

When the Mute button was added, I had a few complaints on the characteristics and worked with a few people on the characteristics and haven't had any complaints since then. So don't really want to change that but I am open to suggestions such as adding an option for different characteristics.

Bob, if possible, I'd like to see an option that modifies the behavior of the mute button.

Perhaps something along the lines of whether it mutes WiFi audio and sets volume to 0 (current behavior), or only sets the scanner volume to 0 while leaving WiFi audio alone (desired behavior).

Usage example: I want to mute the scanner's external speaker audio locally at night when going to sleep, but need audio to remain active for recording and for someone using RSOIP to listen to it.

I believe that's how the other models (996P2 for example) work? The volume gets set to 0 but won't adversely affect RSOIP or recording? If so, that behavior please!

I may be able to do something like this down the road.

When the Scanner Volume level is set to 0, RSOIP or Recorder will certainly be affected because no audio into the sound card means no audio into the RSOIP or Recorder.

With a model like the 996P2, that assumes we're using the Line Out, not Ext Spkr, so the volume knob wouldn't affect the fixed line level output. :)
