Bob

Just purchased a Lic and it will not recognize the name/ps. I've both C&P the key plus entered manually. Tried name caps/no caps/ etc.

Maybe a new server issue? If you wish- can replay via email.

Edit - never received an email receipt either. I did get the PayPal on OK.

If you can send me an email, I can look into it right away.

You probably have the Web Server or Remote Scanner Over IP on and using port 5001.
Go to the one not using and turn it off.

OR,

A perfect example of how not to treat a prospective customer, or expand your base.

Good luck.

I think the fault is with Whistler for not releasing their programming code, and as a result no third parties will be able to create their own software.

Actually the protocol is published and looks doable.

Doing a Whistler model would take 8 months for the first model and maybe 1 month for each additional model.

This is from my website
Request / Suggestion Guidelines

If you have suggestions, they can be sent via email or RadioReference. The advantage of email is I can ask additional questions to make sure the suggestion is done right and send you the latest ProScan file with the suggestion implemented.

All suggestion are prioritized with the following factors:
  • I like it or I think others will like it.
  • Time value benefit.
  • Similar to another request or in the same category as another request so they can be done at the same time.
  • Please keep the commentary and drama out. A simple suggestion or request is all that's needed.
  • Please don't disguise a bug as a request. It's acceptable when the user not sure if a bug or by design.
  • Please don't ask that your suggestion be done next or bumped up.
  • Please don't be pushy, rude, or manipulative. For the very few users that are like this.
  • Please don't request Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry, etc... It will take several years to do each and I would rather spend the time on ProScan & RadioFeed.

I'm not going to spend 8 months when the requestor is rude. I think that's fair.

I'm real receptive to suggestions. I always ask that it is keep simple, to the point, and leave the commentary out.

That being said, If Machria would of sent me a simple email, I may of considered it.

{edit} Let me add that I'm not looking to expand my customer base just to make the best software out there. I have four incomes counting my wife's and two of them are 6 figures so I'm definitely not looking for increase of sales.

Good for you! I'm not sure what you think was "rude", or what crime I committed by ASKING (not requesting anything) if your software would support a Whistler scanner. You said no, i said "your loss". Nothing rude there. Thats an opinion.

If your not interested, and with your timeframe quoted I don't blame you a bit, fine. Again, good luck. And heed your own request and stop being rude.

FYI, i remember looking at your software a few years ago, it was very nice.

I don't think he's being rude at all, it was mostly in response to your original reply, which verged on trolling and was kind of rude

I'm using TCPview and still can find anything using port 5001?

I'm sure something has port 5001 open. I would search the ProScan.cfg file for 5001. See what item it is.

Also reboot the computer again.
Perhaps try another port.

I'm sure with your vast knowledge of what good business is, and how to treat "potential customers" you will be quite successful with the Whistler software endeavor you pursue - to code, debug, test, debug, test some more, debug, alpha test, fix issues, beta test, debug, fix issues, 2nd beta test, fix issues, et. al.

All while having to code for a endless combination of systems, Windows versions, hardware variances, and user skill levels.

Looked and still can't find anything open...

I pulled the plug on router/modem, PC's and everything in house that uses wireless...

Now it shows connected, but when i try to log in with ProScan Client it won't connect..It shows up when you click update tab.......I'm a registered no-ip and everything looks good there.

the only thing this software needs to do is make me a sammich :p

Seriously one suggestion if not already mentioned, is it possible for the software to tell when loading to detect that the X36's are in mass storage mode connected to do away with the com port alert?

So you are using the Remote Scanner Over IP feature?
Do you have the router port forwarding set to the port using and TCP? Did you check if canyouseeme.org can see your server?

Well if my reply "verged on rude", his and some of you folks reply's have been down right rude and obnoxious. I simply asked a question, why is this a problem here? I've never had to deal with such ridiculous "sensitive" people. Sorry I didn't come into this thread kneeling on my hands and knees, with my head bowed down prior to asking a question. I'll be sure to do that next time!!

Carry on...

And what the heck are you talking about? I said i was going to develop scanner software?? Actually, i was a programmer for 20 years, and do fully understand what it takes to develop applications. Not only do I understand why proscan might not want to add additional scanners or brands, I'm surprised by how many it already supports.

Care to make more baseless wise cracks?
