I really don't want to downgrade the firmware version. I tried a fresh copy...same thing.

Only for testing. There could be a problem with ProScan. We just don't know but we have to narrow down the problem.

BCD996XT and BCT15X support Ready For Testing

ProScan BCD996XT / BCT15X 1st Test Version 3.9.0

http://www.proscan.org/ProScan.zip

This assumes that ProScan is installed on your computer and contains the executable only. Extract and copy this .exe over the original .exe.
Post the bugs on the ProScan message board or email them to me.

BCT15X Questions:

How does the Mute / CC knob work? For muting the scanner; Is it a knob press? For Activating CC; Is it a double press or hold down the knob? Same question with the light and state knob?

Is there "Military" in the Service Search menu?
Menu - Search for . . . Service Search

Yes on the BCT15X the Sql knob pushes in to mute alert and if you hold it long enough it turns on a hold on the mute alert

Only for testing. There could be a problem with ProScan. We just don't know but we have to narrow down the problem.

Troubleshooting steps tonight:

1. before I wasted any more of your time, I rebooted the PC. issue remained.

2. tried different USB-to-serial adapter on another PC with (Windows 7 64bit) issue remained.

3. downgraded firmware to 1.07.00. issue remained on original PC.

4. tried v3.9.0. issue remained.

5. tried fresh install. issue remained.

6. tried fresh install of 2.1.0. issue remained

7. tried update from fresh 2.1.0 install to 2.9.4. issue remained.

The Windows XP PC that has had the software running has not had any Windows updates or anything install in months. I don't know what's going on. So, it does it when I back it down to version 1.07.00 firmware. Weird. I'm not sure what firmware version was on the scanner, but I know this was the first time I upgraded it. Could be a problem with me or the scanner. :)

Link is for a screen capture of what ProScan does with scanning the systems that it hangs on.

YouTube - 396XT Hanging With ProScan

Good video. What they say "A picture is like a thousand words" is true.

I see the control channel output is on. Go to the CC Data tab and hit the stop button.

While the CC output data is a nice Uniden addition, it's not really good to keep it on all the time as it streams tremendous amounts of data bogging down the serial port.

That took care of it. "start" turned to "stop" only for a slit second but I got it. Thanks! I guess it is a setting on the scanner when started? If so, that would explain for happening on different PCs.

I used Campasia from TechSmith for the video. Great program.

I don't have a "stop" button, only a "start". If I click on "start" nothing happens.

Click the button again.

if ProScan is unloaded and CC output is running and then ProScan is started again, the logic will go out of sysnc.

Will you be making a feature to program radio ID's with the XT scanners??

The UID's are programed the same as talk group ID's except the UID's needs the letter "i" before the UID.

Did this answer it or are you asking about something else.

No tutorials, If I did them, ProScan would still be on version 1 or 2. After you get the hang of something, they are prety much useless anyways. I try to make the program as user friendly as can be.

Steps importing from from RR (short version).
1) A database file needs to be open
2) Go to the menu Import and then to RadioReference Web (or CD)
3) Enter your RR login info and click the Connect button.
4) Choose Country, State, etc..
5) Select a system
6) Click on the Retrieve Data button next to the system.
7) Review the systems, channels, tgids, freqs in the tree on the left.
8) Click the import button
