Total fan of Bob and his work for us with his ProScan creation! So it is with my head held low that I ask this most rudimentary question. First, the scenario:
I have a very basic setup with two BCT15X units connected to a dedicated PC for the purpose of recording my local PD and Fire/EMS. (That way I can listen later to catch up on all the action I’ve missed while away from the scanners and don’t have my handheld with me.) 😂 Currently they are each connected to the pc using the front data/programming port and the audio out on the back panel. For mounting purposes using the front jack is cumbersome. So the question...
What is the purpose of the serial connector on the back of the BCT15X? Can it be configured and connected to carry the data needed by ProScan to capture events and create logs? Or am I stuck tucking the front cable through the mount to make the needed connection? I’m not capturing gps data, but wonder what else that lonely rs-232 jack might be capable of. I bow to the wisdom and experience of this group’s gurus, and confess my inability to find answers via searching the forum. Thanks in advance.
