Do you get the screen that asks you to choose mass storage or serial mode when you connect the USB cable? if so, what happens when you select the serial mode?
Hi.Yes I get the screen that asks to select Mass Storage or Serial Port. When I select Serial Port (.) the Device Manage says the Uniden Serial is connected to COM16 as it was before. Proscan says Unable to Open COM Port Check if other Software is using Port 16. There is no other software using COM16. I have tried using COM17 with the same results.

Thanks, Bob.

See if selecting a lower serial port number will help. In the device manager, right click on the Uniden serial driver line, then select "properties", then "advanced". See if you can select a low COM port, then re-boot.

All my other lower ports are in use. That's why I had it set to 16 or 17 which worked OK before. Bob.

I have updated to Ver. 19.3. I cannot get my BCD436HP to connect to the Serial Port. It connects to the Mass Storage OK. I use WIN7 64 bit. It shows that I have the Uniden Serial Port at COM16 in the Device Manager. I checked the .cfg file in the Proscan folder and it shows COM16 OK. How can I get it connected? It worked OK before the update. Thanks, Bob.
Try power cycling the scanner. If still no go then go to the Comm. Port menu and click on Auto Detect. If the scanner is not found then go to the Device Manager and see if it's working.

Why are all the other ports in use? If they are then port 16 and 17 may be too. Try rebooting the computer to see if that clears the condition.

I have power cycled the scanner and computer has been rebooted. I still get the error. See the attached.

As said above.... close that favorites list window, then click on the "Comm Port" tab at the top of the main Proscan window... then click "auto detect".

That's still the wrong window. :) Look at the "Comm. Port" tab of the main window.
That's the only window I get now when I launch Proscan. The virtual screen window used to load. It does not now. Bob.

Thanks. That was not the problem. I always have it set to Normal. The problem is that if it does not load the second window with the virtual display and the recorder, etc if it does not access the port correctly. I now have it fixed. There was some problem with my ports.

Thanks. I appreciate the help from all.

The problem has been solved. There was some problem with my COM ports on my computer.

I tried several COM port repair programs and one of them worked to fix my problem. My Proscan has worked flawlessly since I bought it. Somehow my port problem occurred exactly after the 19.3 update. How the port problem happened is beyond me. It had nothing to do with Proscan or the 19.3 update. Bob.

Does anyone have an easy or automated way to save the daily log files from ProScan? I'd like to use the daily hit data for some statistical exercises.

Thanks!

I would say Automated and Easy no. You can output your scanner activity with Proscan to a csv file which is easy but from there to turn the csv into useful statistics you are going to have to do some considerable work to summarize and combine if you plan on using several days or more of data. I combine output from a Uniden and two GRE scanners, which all 3 using different software and different format to provide the csv data. From there using Excel and many macros and numerous database files within Excel I ultimately export to Microsoft Access which gives me statistical analysis ability. Not easy to have developed the Excel and Access files but once developed easy to use and produce stats.
