ProScan Version 1.7 Build 2 includes the RadioReference Imports feature, improved Scanner Over IP, and bug fixes.

Supported scanners are the BCD996T, BC796D, BC785D, BC780XLT, BC296D, and the BC250D.

I'm thriving to make this the best Computer Aided Scanning program and suggestions are very much appreciated.

Hi Folks,
I could use some input and suggestions. I'm reworking the Upload & Download screens for the DMA scanners. Images attached. I think in the present form, it's a little confusing. I want to make it as simple as possible but powerful in functionality. I want to get this right. One suggestion that came in
here ProScan: - "Delete All Systems in Database before Downloading" "Replace systems with the same name". I've been struggling with this for a few days. To me, it's confusing. I'm not sure if this is needed or would be useful, and how would it work? So any input or suggestions would be helpful on this or anything in the DMA Upload & Download screens. Thanks.

If I understand the issue correctly my concern with "replace system with same name" would be if the name changed in anyway be it a , or . or blank space etc then there would be the chance of the same system with nearly identical name with different programming.
This happened to me early on with computer programming of scanners. It caused memory full and lockouts not working issues.

Good practice is to download from scanner, make changes, then upload to scanner. This is why it's important to select systems you want to change and leave others alone. If you make a lot of changes in the radio you need to download and save those changes as well.

I would leave it alone. Like everything it's a learning curve by trial and error. If you look at what it does logically and not what you think it should do it will make sense as there are different scenarios. To me bottom line is keep ProScan how you want it and delete everything in the radio on upload then you will not have trouble. Exclude systems with no changes if you like for faster uploads and downloads.

As this will be pretty close to what I have been wishing for forever, an true user friendly GUI look for the DMA's (BCD396XT etc)... I like how your screenshots look much better than the old way it was done, and seems like the options will have more functionality than the original version, and the FreeSCAN one too. Of course you will headbutt with the usual memory issues of the way the actual system in the scanners is set up so it will be nice to see if you overcome the hurdle of this without giving up on it.

To add to this, the only thing I liked about the FreeSCAN system is that somehow they were able to add in voice announce for each CH/TG.

I like the 'Delete All Systems in Database before Downloading'. Because it clearly states what will happen. This 'Replace systems with the same name' does not.

Have you ever named systems with your custom names? Do several hundred then have software rename it everytime you update it.
Bob will as always end up with a great product that will be very useable for all users.

Replace with the same name - this is a feature that I really do miss from Freescan. I'm not a coder, but seems simple - detect duplicate system names, delete destination copy (be it upload or download), send source copy (be it upload or download).

There is already a 'duplicate search' function in Proscan. To search for duplicate frequencies. The 'Delete All Systems in Database before Downloading'. Detecting duplicate names, would be a potential annoyance. Because some systems' have both conventional, and TG. That is on two different RR pages. Hence the problem with detecting duplicate names.

When comparing the ProScan systems and the scanner systems, spaces can be removed and text converted to lower case on the system text tags. So if the system text tag is centered justified with extra leading spaces, ProScan will know it's the same system. The text tags will appear normally.
So this part isn't factored in the decision making process.

Let me see what I could do. The difficult part is the UI and presentation. Not so much the coding. I'll work on the UI.

Looking at your screenshot, I don't see the "Delete all items in the scanner that are not in the database before uploading" option.
I use this feature when deleting a system. Wouldn't be a huge deal to delete all, just faster.

I was giving this serious thought and decided not to. The final version is like this. I may release the new version within the hour.

• Changed - Database - Moved the GQK Status settings from the scanner settings to the system level parameters.

• Fixed - Web Server - Was producing a fatal error in some cases.

I've updated to version 19.2 using Windows 7 and a 996P2, after the update my audio recorder has stopped working. I've looked at all my settings and nothing has changed. All other logging functions work as they should. Any suggestions appreciated
