ProScan Version 1.7 Build 2 includes the RadioReference Imports feature, improved Scanner Over IP, and bug fixes.

Supported scanners are the BCD996T, BC796D, BC785D, BC780XLT, BC296D, and the BC250D.

I'm thriving to make this the best Computer Aided Scanning program and suggestions are very much appreciated.

Re: ProScan recording question

On ProScan recording screen after I push Record and it starts recording my scanner as far as the rows on my screen when it gets too clogged up is there any way to remove them without deleting the actual sound file off my computer? I've noticed if I select a particular row(s) and click delete it removes the sound files off my hard drive that are associated with those rows... Thx!

Any feedback anyone?? :)

another work around is to goto: Options/Start Up and uncheck "Load Recordings Data" then when you turn off and on proscan it will start your recording data over and leave the files. It will also speed up the load time dramatically.

Re: ProScan recording question

Thank you to the both of u! Tryton: have you tried the method of moving to a different directory and deleting or were you just suggesting I try that?

ProScan 5.2 Crashing. It is happening when I am clicking on the tray icon to bring it up from minimized. This seems to happen everytime.. so I can no longer minimize to tray my feed.
I am running win7 64bit.

Do you have all the Windows Updates installed?

I would edit the ProScan.cfg file and remove the line "[WINDOW STATE]=Minimized" then restrat ProScan.

I'll try that when I get home, Yes all windows updates are installed. I have really noticed this when running 2 instances of proscan (2nd in different folder per instructions).

I will report back on how it goes.. Thanks again for the great software!!!

P25 Mot Direct/ICalls do not record. They show up on the Proscan display and the audio goes through the audio level. But these Non-Enc calls are not recorded in the past couple versions of the software.

And this is what is killing UID's showing up in Alpha tags as well.

I wonder if something software side could be done. Say each UID you enter had a @ or some other char thats not used infront of it and then proscan could pick up that. Since the scanner no longer passes the UID once you make an alias this would be something that the scanner could pass along.

OR

A list in proscan that matches UID #'s to tags, something like how the broadcast lockout works.

After running the UID tags for a bit now I think that a plain text file would be better then having to put them into the TG ID area. Suggestion already submitted via email.

You might want to post your PC's specs (CPU, amount of memory, what else is running...). I would also check the event viewer to see if it might give you a specific error or reference what caused it to crash.

The best way to get this resolved is by email. That way I can get a response faster and send out test files until it's resolved.

Info that would help me:
Version.
Recording options(options in the menu and options on the recording tab).

I hate to quote another "competitor" software program but just a suggestion since they have it working correctly... FreeScan has this thing where you can program a Unit ID like it's a regular TalkGroup ID you'd program. You label the name as you would a TalkGroup ID however under the actual ID # you put a lower-case i in front of the Unit ID you want to label and wallah when I scan my systems and it lands on a TalkGroup where I have a unit ID plugged in it lists that Unit Name that I programmed for the ID. Maybe ask the guy that makes FreeScan how he did it and that would help you. Since his program is free I can't imagine him having an issue sharing that trick with you... :) Just a suggestion...

DavidQT69, you missed the point. Logging of the UID text tags are working by prepend a "i" to the TGID and prepend a "%" to the TGID text tag. That in the latest version.

webstar22 correct me if I'm wrong but you want a text file lookup implemented so the scanner doesn't need a special group containing UID TGID's and also the text tags can contain more the 15 characters.

Proscan exactly.

I truly think it would work better then having to make up groups.

I am trying to use the database for the first time to reprogram my 796D with the Connecticut state police. I retrieved the data and selected what I wanted but when I hit import I get a message of " multiple sites selected for same system. Select only one site and try again."

I don't know a thing about trunk channels or how to program digital. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kevin

can not connect to 996XT, pls help.

I had used ProScan years ago to program and control my 780xlt and it worked well. Now I have been forced to upgrade and have a 996xt and can not get a connection. frustrated. I am sure someone can help.

problem: "No response"

Equipment: Laptop, XP Professional 2002 SP3
Scanner, BCD996XT, FW 1.04
Connections, Gigawire USB a to serial cable to gender changer to 996 rear serial port. (Gigawire drivers "up to date")
ProScan Trial (will upgrade if I get it to work)

Tried: connecting above, set Com port, set baud on scanner, ProScan, Device Mangr.
ck'ed Gigaware driver states "up to date" (2010)
changed Com ports
changed to lower baud rate in all 3 places
changed to lower buffer rate
checked connections
connected to 780xlt, no problems, download and control.

I assume (yes, I know) there is not a "remote" setting on the 996 like the 780 has because I can't find any mention in any reference or menu of it.

Not sure what to do next? any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

And just to be complete, the setup information for the non-DMA scanners ProScan supports can actually be found summarized on one of his (gulp) older competitors' website...

Radio Setup

Bob, you might consider putting all of that info on your website - surely you get enough questions from newcomers about this...best regards..Mike

First, the Windows Device Manager baud rate and other setting does not need to be changed and will not have an effect.

Do the following:
1. Go to the Windows Device Manager and write down the port number of the USB converter.
2. Go to the scanner menu and set the scanner rear port baud rate to the highest which is 115200.
3. Go to the ProScan menu Options --> Comm. Port and set the comm port to the same as the Device Manager. Set the Baud Rate to 115200.

Let me know how it turns out.
