Your welcome.

Thanks to the way Bob has setup the webserver, the look of the webpage is very highly customizable. Both the "Web_Server_User_HTML" file and the "style1.css" file can be tweaked to create some very interesting results.

Just to give an idea of how customizable the ProScan web server is, I have this setup for my own personal use on an iPhone. I travel quite frequently and I like to keep up with what's going on back home. The ProScan webserver, as included with the software, is a fantastic feature with lots of info presented on the webpage in an extremely easy to use package. This is just my customized condensed version of the webpage that fits all on one phone screen when I can't set up my laptop or have a desktop computer at hand.

Some items on the stock webpage have been re-arrainged, some have been removed, and the "apple-mobile-web-app-capable", and the "viewport" meta tags have been added. Controls for re-booting the home network components have also been added to the page. The computer that's running ProScan, and other network components are also set to reboot when auto-ping fails.

Once the web page is saved to the phone's Home Screen, the "web app" meta tag allows the web page to present as an app rather than a browser page. A tap of the icon on the home screen opens the page and shows all of the important features I need for this purpose, opened full width in full screen mode in the landscape position with no address or status bars, and no scrolling needed. This is a screen grab from the phone (enlarged)...

Super nice. If I could give you 10 Likes, I would. You're truly a power user.
Let me know if any improvements are needed on the Web Server.

Just wondering if anyone has made a custom website that embeds multiple ProScan streams on one page. I’m running 7 total audio streams out of two locations and combining them in one place would make things a bit cleaner (and reduce the number of open ports I need).

I am working on implementing this on my own website. I'll send you a PM if/when I get a test run of it completed.

Just wondering where I go on Proscan to program my radios? Im not seeing it anywhere.... Thanks
On the DMA scanners, click on the Database tab.
On the BCDx36HP and SDSx00 scanners, click the Favorites Editor check box located in the top menu on the far left side.

I'm fairly new here so please be easy on me. If this has been answered before, I've not seen that article.

I'm setting up proscan on a win7 netbook. Proscan runs when I click on it but it's not seeing any com ports. I've installed the driver for my BCD996P2 and shows as Com9. When I try to set the port in proscan, it finds no ports at all. Device manager shows it as working and running as port 9.

I've reset the scanner, uninstalled the driver and reinstalled, shows as port9, refreshed ports in proscan, nothing. Closing and re-running proscan with the message 'Unable to open comm port. Check if other software is using port 9.' Nothing else is running.

EDIT: I just reset the scanner again. Now port 9 shows up in proscan but when I upload to the scanner I see the message 'Scanner must be communicating'

I welcome all constructive input & thank you for your comments.

Port 9 shows in ProScan. Is that when you clicked on Auto Detect? If yes, is the scanner showing in the Scanner column? Click the row to select it then click the 'Set Selected Available Port.

Do you see the ProScan virtual display showing like the scanner display? If so then you should be able to download or upload. If not then that has to be troubleshot.

Right after I posted, I went into device mgr and set the port speed to 9600 then set proscan the same. I opened both again and set the port to 115200. Opened proscan and the scanner display showed it was linked. I sent my older/new scanner file to the scanner... it took!

I lost the port again. I cycled the power on the scanner, reopened proscan and so far (with crossed fingers) it seems to be working as expected. Not sure why it was not working, but at the moment seems to be ok.

Thank you ProScan for your quick reply. That was really quick.

The Port Settings tab under the Properties in the Device Manager has nothing to do with serial port communications. That's for sending AT commands to legacy modems so those settings don't matter. I think it was a coincidence that It worked when you tried it, perhaps due to an intermittent cable or connection.

I would check that each end of the cable is seated well. Perhaps jiggle the connectors when it's working to see if the display stops indicating a serial port communications problem.

You can tweak the look and content of your ProScan webpage for your smart phone or a full size website by customizing the "Web_Server_User_HTML" and the "style1.css" files located in the ProScan installation folder on your computer. Take a look at the source code of your web page when it loads in a desktop browser (right click on the web page and choose "view page source" or "inspect") to get a feel for how the elements of the page are set up, and where you can add or change JavaScript, HTML, and/or style elements in those 2 user editable files. The changes I made to those files are specific to my setup including sizing and spacing of desired content for my phone... and the use of "iframes" to overlay data from other servers onto the web page that are not part of ProScan (web switches for rebooting etc). If you don't already have experience, you would definitely benefit by having even rudimentary knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, meta tags, and CSS (style sheets) to make changes to those files based on exactly what you want to see when the web page loads on your phone . There is an excellent resource for that knowledge here:

The meta tag specific to the iPhone to present the web page as a full screen app (when it's opened from a saved bookmark on your phone's home page) is listed first on this page:

If you're using another brand of smartphone, a similar meta tag for that phone may be available. Those meta tag values for your specific phone might be found with a Google search, usually in developer forums.

To scale and position the web page content based on the size of your phone's viewable area, look for the "viewport" section at the w3schools website.

There may be quite a bit of experimenting and trial and error required along the way to get the content arranged the way you prefer, and what works best for showing it on your phone, but it makes for a very interesting project. Good idea to make backup copies of those 2 files before you start customizing in case you need to revert back to them.

This is awesome info and very helpful. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I am mostly using the webpage on my Samsung A42 when I am away from home. Can't wait to experiment with the look.

The next thing I need to figure out is how to auto start the audio when I connect to my feed. I always have to click the "play" button, even though the unit shows it scanning.

When I unplug then replug the cable, the computer makes noise indicating that it's reconnected. When I go into proscan today it shows that port 9 is connected in the proscan port settings but the error box says there is no communication.

I'm stumped.

I'm stumped.

Based on what you've described, me too.

My process would be to reboot, power on the scanner, connect the cable, select Mass Storage Mode (if you're wanting to read/write), check the COM port number, open ProScan, tell it to auto detect, select it, and click the button to use it. I have no idea why that wouldn't work unless there is some sort of security thing that is blocking/locking down the scanner.

Serial mode is for control, MSM is for reading/writing.

EDIT: Just realized you're on a 996P2. I don't have one so I'm not sure if the process is the same but I think Bob already detailed it earlier now that I think about it. I was talking of the x36HP or SDS line. Sorry.

That worked! Thank you 03msc. I hope it stays that way.

OK cool. Just remember that, along with the COM port being properly selected, it has to be in mass storage mode to read/write from/to the scanner. That was the only thing I could think of that might be not allowing you to read/write.
