OK cool. Just remember that, along with the COM port being properly selected, it has to be in mass storage mode to read/write from/to the scanner. That was the only thing I could think of that might be not allowing you to read/write.

I've read other posts that mentioned mass storage mode. How do I check this setting?

The DMA types such as the BCD996P2 don't have a Mass Storage mode. Just the HP and SDS types.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. At the moment it's working. I appreciate all the help with this scanner. It works a lot different then I used decades ago. And, I'm at the beginning of this journey.

Thank you.

I just bought this scanner. Do you think that being new it might be defective?
It's a possibility. I would keep an eye out for the intermittent. If the serial port does lose connection, it will show up in the virtual display not updating. If it happens again, I would try another USB port on the computer, or USB hub. If it still does it then I would swap USB cables.

I'll keep that in mind. Thank you for the wealth of information.

Controls for re-booting the home network components have also been added to the page.
Is this something built into the webserver capabilities, or is it something you built out? I just set the webserver up today for the first time, and am very interested in what I can do with it now.

The re-boot controls are web enabled switching relays that are not part of the ProScan webserver. They are stand-alone relays that have their own built-in webserver to access their controls. I just used HTML "iframes" to stack their server control page on top of the ProScan server page.

These are the types of relays I use for this and other projects:

Awesome. Now I just need to figure out how to log UIDs from my phone and I will be all set.

Frequency Red on RR import

When importing from a RR import. Why does the frequency show up in red before inport? Ive only seen this before to indicate that the channel is on Lockout.
Westchester County, New York (NY) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

It shouldn't. I'll check it out before the next release.
I'm seeing the same behavior, not only for Ardsley EMS/PD, but for a few other listings in Westchester. They all have the same thing in common, using the Multi-Dispatch service tag/type.

Perhaps it's highlighting entries that use a service tag that is not enabled in the Favorites? That's the commonality between the ones showing up in red for me.
