Here's my screenshot. Thanks for helping.

This looks like your computer (Windows) is not seeing your input from your scanner. So, not a ProScan issue.

As Bob said, I would suggest searching online (Google, whatever) for how to get your audio input to show up. It should show up when you plug in the line cable into your computer's input. If it's not, you may need to including your computer's make and model as well as operating system version (i.e. Windows 10 or 11 or whatever) with your search terms.

Folks, I need testers for the Web Server feature.
I received three bug reports via email on the Web Server locking up and two reported back that it was no longer locking up but the problem is intermittent so I want to make sure it's fixed. Plus I upgraded the audio player on the webpage so I want to make sure that works on all platforms.

Still version 22.5. File version is 22.5.1.0.

Unzip and copy the files over the originals. Stop ProScan 1st.

Did you right click on one of the inputs and check the "Show Disabled Devices" option? I would search online as you will see a lot of helpful info.
Yes, I did click on that and those are the only two options I have, microphone which is disabled and the audio. This is the same as I have on my Samsung book with Windows 11 and it worked on that one but I can't get it back to working even on that laptop again so I'm not sure if it's the settings in the ProScan or what.

Can you compare the Win Mixer in Samsung with the Win Mixer in the one that's not working.

{edit} Windows reports the inputs to ProScan so you need to get the input working first so ProScan can see it.

I have apparently screwed that Samsung all up too trying to get it working again. It worked once, why not again? I wish I had taken screenshots of everything before I moved ProScan over to the new HP laptop. I just can't remember what I did to get it working but it doesn't have a line-in either. I have searched google all night and nothing is working.

I have 16 of the below external sound cards on 1 computer for Broadcastify and Zello and they work great.
Once set up (It takes a few hours with that many) I have had no issues, they have been running for almost a year

Im testing the below on one of my Broadcastify streams that carry a local trunk system, I find by the time it gets to the web the P25 P2 systems sound muffled the below lets me add more treble

Perhaps it will be easier to just purchase a USB External Stereo Sound Adapter.

Yes, was going to suggest this if the line is didn't work. Came to mind after I posted previously. I use that exact model on a computer to get an extra line in. That should solve your problem, @Saint and @Kelita

But, to answer the "how do you get a line in" question, your computer should have a jack on it somewhere that is a line in or can be a combo line in/headphone jack. But not all headphone jacks are a combo. If in doubt, the USB thing is a handy way to go. Then you connect line from the scanner to the purple/pink jack and you're good. It will then show up as an input in the Windows sound settings; verify that before working with ProScan.

Bob,

I have noticed a degradation of performance with the waterfall feature of ProScan when connecting via the LAN. It is very sluggish compared to the USB connection. I would have expected the opposite. I'm not sure if this is unique to me or if you have had other reports. I have tried this with a wired ethernet connection as well as the Vonets VAP11G-300 bridge that many of us are using to eliminate the need to run an ethernet cable. It misbehaves on both in my case.

The waterfall performance on the LAN and USB should be exactly the same. Double and triple check non-waterfall operation to see if still sluggish. Power cycle the scanner and see what happens.

The waterfall data from the scanner is relatively small compared to the other returned data.
Waterfall data is 726 characters and the other return data is 2042 characters.

{edit} Also may want to reboot your router and computer.

Interestingly it is running better now but I definitely noticed it last evening using the Vonets and prior to that with a hardwired connection. The most noticeable thing about it was the clock that is embedded in the waterfall, lagging, and then counting up rapidly back to "real" time with that recurring regularly, and a concurrent lag in the FFT as well. Maybe a process was running on my PC that was causing problems. Beats me. Thanks for the response; seems to be something local.

If worse comes to worse, you could roll back your computer to a different time when everything was working, use restore point.

Does anyone still sell one of the cheapo USB sound dongles that offer an actual stereo input? Most specify a Mic level input only that is also listed as a mono jack or input.
I had bought a bunch years ago that were under a buck each. I think they were on eBay back then. They could be configured via the sound mixer settings if the lone input jack was set to Line or Mic level impedance plus the jack was true stereo so one USB sound dongle could handle two radios via the right and left channels.
Looking at the links in this thread, it seems the cheap little ones just have a Mic level input now that is also monaural so no stereo input.

Anyone have any links to the cheap little USB sound card dongles that have a true stereo input and preferably an option to change the input to/from MIC to Line level etc.

I wish I still had all the little sound dongles I'd bought years ago. They worked very well for scanner audio plus their ability to be set to Line or Mic level for its input jack helped keep the audio levels tamed down. Who knows what I did with those old dongles. I think I'd bought 20 of them back then and can't find even one of them now!
