ProScan Version 1.7 Build 2 includes the RadioReference Imports feature, improved Scanner Over IP, and bug fixes.

Supported scanners are the BCD996T, BC796D, BC785D, BC780XLT, BC296D, and the BC250D.

I'm thriving to make this the best Computer Aided Scanning program and suggestions are very much appreciated.

A new instance seems to have resolved my issue. The below may not make sense, but here are 2 screenshots of what's happening...

A new session of ProScan in the foreground...

And the same session after I click on something else and it goes in the background...

You can see it scrolled by itself. The history won't populate until I get a full page of hits. None of my other instances acted like this. I'll go through the other one tomorrow and see if I can find anything.
Two different scroll bars. The one on the far right side is the tab scroll bar. Scroll up all the way then the top of the grid will come into view. The OP is refering to the grid scroll bar.

And both of them scrolled by themselves. The only difference between the two screenshots is I clicked on something else to put ProScan in the background. Something must be corrupted in that instance, as I’ve said my other instances don’t act this way. I’d be interested to see if a new instance would resolve the OP’s issue as well.

And I can go back and forth between those 2 instances and replicate the issue every time.

And I’m not saying anything is wrong with ProScan, I’m just guessing that instance got corrupted somehow.

Scroll bars are Windows controls. They take user input. Perhaps something deep inside the OS is causing that. Reboot your computer and see what happens.

It's been rebooted dozens of times since this started (and updated and shut down and whatever else) and as I said, no other instances on the same computer do it. The only "user input" I'm doing is clicking on something else to put this instance in the background.

I tried using the ‘Always on top’ option today to see what happens if ProScan is always in focus. For the first several (maybe dozen) lines of entries, the behavior is correct.

I then come back after an hour or so (seems to be after a page of entries are logged?), and have to manually scroll back up, using the grid scroll bar, to see the most recent entries, regardless of Active Row setting or New Entries Auto Sort.

I did try installing a clean, new instance, re-booting and tried a different radio/instance.

It’s important to me because the keyboard and mouse are used minimally on this PC. It’s mostly a set-and-forget setup started daily. The idea (for me) is to let ProScan scan throughout the day and glance at the screen/log occasionally to identify interesting transmissions I just heard.

What model scanner are you using?

All of them do it? I really feel we have the same issue and I'm not explaining it well.

Does it happen if you leave the program in the foreground? Or does yours ever go in the background?
I mostly use the 200, 160DN and 536 now. Yes, all radios and instances have the same logging behavior. Almost exclusively used for conventional scanning/searching these last few months.

I wasn’t using the Always on Top tick, but tried it today. Either way, I have to manually scroll the log.

Would be interesting to know if others see the same thing, or if there’s a unique configuration that causes it?

I keep this PC pretty clean, as a dedicated scanning machine.

Thanks. Oh yeah, I thought the new instance didn't do it but it's acting up also. Odd that no other instances of mine exhibit this behavior.

I may be muddying up your issue so I'm going to bow out. Please post if you figure it out and I'll try that as well.

I'll look at it before the next release.

Can you email me a Bug Report

Bug Reporting

If you discover a bug, send an email to support@proscan.org. The advantage of email is so I can ask questions and send you production quality files with additional testing to help fix the bug. The person reporting the bug will get the fix sooner than waiting for the next release. Put "bug" in the Subject line. Bugs received initially via email in this format are assigned the highest priority.

Bug Reports - Advise on the following:
  • Product (ProScan, Free Client, or RadioFeed):
  • Version:
  • Scanner type:
  • Windows version:
  • Options pertaining to the bug: A couple of screenshots like the images below.
  • Describe in detail what the bug is doing or not doing:

I sent you a PM (also sent a bug report), but I can reliably reproduce and correct the anomaly. Assuming we have the same issue, but I'm sure we do.

@mtitteri, Are you going to send me an email so I can send you the file that should fix it?

I'm looking for the next big thing to do. Let me get your ideals. I probably won't respond but will take notes.

A few ideas I have:
A. Profile Editor like in this image below. It will take approx 4 months and there's not much that can be improved on except 1. The Display Customizer will be part of the Profile Editor. 2. Sorting of the colors in the Display Customer will be sorted by HSL versus color names. 3. Add FTP Read & Write functions to the SDS200.

B. Scanner Support such as the UBCD396XT, UBCD160DN

C. RRDB Import
I don't know if these are even possible and I'll have to research it
1. Get systems based on zip code, or lat & lng and range
2. Get systems based on system type

A. Display Customizer with color options would be great. Also ftp on sds200 good.
B. Have neither scanner so doesn't apply to my needs.
C. I find zip code feature useless as too many channels outside the range of reception (regardless of range set) or outside my listening preferences. Even setting system types tends to pull statewide channels and control channels that are out of range. I have helped several people who paid the retailer to program the scanner, and all they got was a zip code program that was over burdened and horribly slow scanning.

To me it is better to program the scanner your self and maintain control over it. I have my normal travel areas programmed in different Quick Keys that can be used as I travel. If I know ahead of time I will go to a new area, I program that area with my preferences before I go there. To me the zip code feature is the lazy man's way to program a scanner and made for scanner retailers to get a few extra bucks out of people.

You and the Forum get a lot of questions now, if you add zip code features to ProScan I think you are opening a 'can of worms' as far as support goes.

My 2 cents worth.

@mtitteri, Must not be too important because I still haven't received an email so I can't test the fix. Email address: support@proscan.org

Hi Bob,
Thank you for following up with me. I’m an old guy that lives alone, so important (from a hobby perspective) sometimes takes a back seat to maintaining my health.

I am very much enjoying ProScan and appreciate all your hard work in maintaining it for us.

Apologies to you if I seemed pushy. It wasn’t my intention.

All the best,
Mark

I'd love to see the ability to log the (average/max ) digital errors of each transmission to help tune filters and antennas. I submitted this as a feature request a while back & would love to see if anyone else wants to see this too. Thanks for a great product, Bob!
