ProScan Version 1.7 Build 2 includes the RadioReference Imports feature, improved Scanner Over IP, and bug fixes.

Supported scanners are the BCD996T, BC796D, BC785D, BC780XLT, BC296D, and the BC250D.

I'm thriving to make this the best Computer Aided Scanning program and suggestions are very much appreciated.

Thanks!

But what does they do?

Before version 5.0, any new entries to the log and recording grids would show at the very top of the log. In ver. 5.0, if the option is set on and any column is sorted, the new entries will show in the correct sort order.

Bob, I emailed you a new request for a new username & password. Thank you!

Won't be able to help this time. We've gone thru this 6 times in the last 2 1/2 years and each time you were given the benefit of doubt. It's exactly the same each time. You state that you beta test Windows and do a lot of re-installs. I reply that it doesn't cause the activation to fail and you reply that you also change out the motherboard and hard drive. Each time I advise that you need to remove the activation first and you reply that you forgot. I'm easy to work and only had one other problem like this in 7 years with thousands of customers.

Proscan Owners, here's you a heads up. Learn how to de-authorize your installs. I just honestly thought Bob meant it when he said full support. I can't for the life of me think that I'm the only one who buys a lot of computer hardware quite a bit and who plays with Windows Betas. If I'd saw this coming; I would've bought another key instead of my PRS-800. We got in some extra cash and my wife & I both upgraded motherboards & CPU's and I bought the 800. I've upgraded as high as 2 or 3 times a month in the past.

My wife doesn't want me to buy another key because of the principle of the matter. I guess I'll get used to using ID Tracker to record.

I find it interesting that you mess around with your scanner computer that often unless you don't have one for just scanning.

Also if you have the old hardware still you could pop it into the computer, boot it up and unregister your proscan.

De-authorizing your ProScan install is easy. I forgot to do so a few times and Bob was more than helpful. As ProScan is an integral part of my unattended monitoring I now remember without fail to do so prior to upgrading.

Keep up the good work, Bob.

I don't have a dedicated computer for my scanners. This is on my daily user desktop.

I've had Windows to crash and had to re-stall on the same hardware and still had to reactivate the Proscan. Those shouldn't count against you but they do. Bob told me that you deauthorize on the tools button, but I still can't find it.

And yes Webstar, you could be right.

I don't want to steer away from the ProScan thread, but if you're operating on just one PC have you considered using a utility like Clonezilla to create an image of your system? Once you configure the system to your liking, which in this case would of course include an authorized version of ProScan, you can boot via a Clonezilla CD and save an image of your newly configured system to a Network Attached Storage drive or a USB hard drive. With that in mind, when the system fails, provided it's not a hardware issue you'd simply boot from the Clonezilla CD again and use it to restore your system. In about 1/2 hour you're back in operation with the "same" authorized version of ProScan and a new healthy OS. Best yet, the software is free, and it works like a champ.

I'm looking at it right now.

Tools >

>Remove Activation

It's right there in the bottom of the list.

1. Don't blame someone else, you did it.
2. Be careful and deactivate next time.
3. The excuse that "If I'd saw this coming; I would've bought another key instead of my PRS-800." is lame. You spent at least $400 on the PSR-800 and you can't afford $40 for 2 more licenses of ProScan???
4. Backup you HDD using the mentioned software above. I use a paid version of Macrium Reflect.
5. If you in fact do a lot of testing for Windows Beta's, you need to maybe adjust how you are doing it. I test software and OS' at work all the time and I use VMWare Worstation. It is pricey for home use but you can use the free version of VMWare Player or Sun's Virtual Box. If you need help on how to setup or anything else, IM me; I'll be glad to help you out and I might learn something from you as well.

I'm a big dork and test stuff at home too. I use multiple PCs in addition for VMWare. I have no less than 18 computers and servers at home (that are being used just not sitting in the basement off, the count on those are 8). The PC I'm on now is running the initial install of Windows 7 from when it went RTM. I have never had any issues or problems. I make sure it's patched, updated, defraged, cleaned (dust/hair/fur from inside) and stable. I like to have a workstation that I can use and not have to re-install Windows every other week. I run ProScan on a dedicated computer. The other activation of ProScan is on a laptop that I take on vacation and use at home while watching TV. In the 5+ years that I've had ProScan, I've had one time that I had to get another activation from Bob. He was very easy to work with and didn't question my request. It's been so long ago I don't remember what happened. I think I had a hard drive die and the backup didn't work which is why I bought Macrium Reflect (which is another excellent program that has excellent support).

Bob provides a great product with a great price and great support. I have never read where he was nasty to anyone or acted like the other person that makes software for scanners (no, it's not Don) and takes suggestions seriously. There are a few requests and suggestions that I've had that he's added to the product. There has been multiple times that I've had an issue with a new version and he's email me in less than 12 hours a fix to try out.

If anything, buy another 2 licenses and support him for the work that he's done for you.

I didn't blame Bob for anything. I just gave a heads up for everyone to protect their keys. I am disabled with Diabetes and no I can't afford things just whenever i want. I do occasionally get in extra funds and do a little splurging. You running your mouth about things you know nothing about with my business & etc. I am being s_hit on here and there's nothing I can do about it.

Now now...calm down. I wasn't mean to you. I was simply giving a few suggestions. If you don't like the fact that someone made comments about what you posted on a public Internet forum, maybe you shouldn't post those.

There is something you can do about it...report my post as offensive. Let a moderator judge and act on what they think is right.

No, I will not report nothing. I didn't mean to be that strong towards you. You just made an assumption on my finances which did irk me a little but I have no ill will against anyone here. Sorry! I have been a Premium member of RR since 2006 without the least bit of problems and don't want to start now.

I don't think anyone does...we (ones posting in response to you and Bob) were just offering (maybe unwanted) advise, suggestions and help. We were also maybe defending Bob and his software. I wasn't trying to irk you in any way; I just simply stated that the cost of ProScan is a drop in the bucket in comparison. So, no hard feelings here either. My offer still stands for any help setting up a virtual environment.
