ProScan Version 1.7 Build 2 includes the RadioReference Imports feature, improved Scanner Over IP, and bug fixes.

Supported scanners are the BCD996T, BC796D, BC785D, BC780XLT, BC296D, and the BC250D.

I'm thriving to make this the best Computer Aided Scanning program and suggestions are very much appreciated.

I am trying to copy a row of seven coordinates under the location tab of one department to transfer to a second department. If I highlight the rows, and click copy, i get a second group right under the first in the same tab. If I highlight and click Copy Selected Nodes, it copies the entire department, frequencies and all as a new department under the system. I can not right click to copy the coordinates. What am I missing?

I see. You're trying to copy the location data to another department. It's currently not possible. The Copy button copies to new rows withing the same department or site. I'll look into it before the next release.

I will say I have thought this capability would be handy before, especially when creating a custom site that isn't imported from the db. So I second the request is what I'm saying.

This feature works in Sentinel, but whenever I made any changes, I would lose the RRDB Differences tab for the modified system. I would definitely appreciate the ability to do this via ProScan.

Hi
I've been using this software for a long time and recently the app must have reset it's preferences with one of the recent updates. I initially noticed there were no recordings for many days and then when I went to check the settings it looks like they were all reset to default.

It's been so long since I set this up and things were working so perfectly but I can't remember some of the settings or something has changed? Using the latest (24.7) version on a completely up to date windows 10 pro OS.

I use this scanner set to monitor on 1 channel and have it record each transmission to it's own mp3 file. The software sees the scanner BCD996P2 via COM port and I can control it fine. I have a 3.5 mm cable from the mono/speaker out of the BCD to a line input jack on the computer. I have it set to record by acticity, skip silence checked each transmission new row and I have the skip silence threshold set properly (lowest it will go without the green and red lights turn on. The transmissions are being recorded and added to a new row and when there's silence it shows orange in the grid.

The issue is it seems to be "recording" or rather writing the silence portions of the transmissions to a new file that is zero bytes. Not a big deal but later when reviewing the audio I don't want to have to skip or delete through a bunch of zero length files. I seem to remember it would only write mp3s of the non silence transmissions and not write any zero length mp3s, which in this case appears to be the silence portion.

Each one of these zero size mp3s in the recorder log show as 00:00:05 in length and they have no Tone ID in that column, but you can't open/play them because they are actually zero bytes in the file system.

Is there a setting I missed? Like some kind of delete/don't keep the silence files? I have in the options -> recording tab it set to delete < 1 second.

I'm at a loss.
Thanks

Please, do a little troubleshooting before blaming the software.
Can you go to the Audio Control - Recorders tab and see if you have audio there. If not then trace the problem back to the source. Look at the Win Microphone Privacy settings, even if using the Line In, and see if ProScan is allowed to use the Mic/Line In, Check the Win Mixer to see if the input is enabled and connected. Check the cable and scanner.

Thanks for adding the Average RSSI column.

I had noticed that the log seemed to record the last RSSI value during the transmission.

It may be something to do with the system I most often monitor, but the RSSI drops quite a bit in the last fraction of a second as the transmission is ending.

The average is more indicative to me of the overall quality.

Dropping the last few frames from the average value calc might be even better.

I want to start by saying that I love ProScan ... and I still love ProScan. I will also be the first to say that maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Just upgraded all the instances on my main "Scanner" PC to 24.8. I should have only done one and tested first.

OK I just deleted most of what I had written and will try again.

I had rearranged the columns in the history logging to suit my wants and desires. Looks like 24.8 put them back into some default order, and I can't get the bottom scroll bar to work. Fortunately I have a very wide monitor and can made the window wide enough that I should be able to put things back the way I like them.

Was this expected behavior, probably due to the new column(s) referenced above?

Thanks Bob for a great product!

Can you change the order of the columns and they should stay in the same order when restarting the app.
On the horizontal scroll bar issue, can you decrease the width of the app and see if it moves. No changes in that area and I can't duplicate the issue.

Hi everyone, I’ve been a registered ProScan user since 2008. I haven’t used it much over the past few years, but I’m getting back into it now. Which version works best with the BCT15X? Should I just use the latest release, or is an older version recommended? I’d really appreciate your input.

Always a good idea to use the latest version. Improvements and new features are constantly being added.

If you're curious and want to peruse the changelog have at it, there have been no reported updates for the 15X since version 19.4 but as stated the latest version is always best to run

Yes I was able to rearrange the order and width of the columns and they are back to the way I had them. Once I realized that the columns I was interested weren't gone (but just hidden to the right) my panic ended. :)

I'm also able to use the scroll bar this morning, so not sure what was up with that last night. I did have my display extended to a second monitor so maybe that had something to do with it.

Sorry for the false alarm, Bob. I'm curious if others have seen the same thing with 24.8 though (history columns rearranged).

Are you installing into same directory as the existing version? Or a new directory?

OK now I feel like an idiot. Not sure what I did last night, but I am unable to reproduce the issue on another PC that I use when I travel.

I have like 10 or 12 instances of ProScan on this PC. When an update comes out, I run the installer once and then just copy all the new files over to the other 11 directories. Yes, that's probably not the supported method, but I find it much faster than running the installer multiple times. I wonder if I accidentally grabbed one of the history files from the directory that I installed into and copied it to all the other directories.

Sorry for the confusion. I will go crawl under a rock for the day. :)

Give this a try the next time you update all those instances:

It should save you some time and minimize any potential errors.
