Interesting that I receive the 31.200 and 32.180 Central America transmissions almost daily and do not hear the US skip that Marvin is hearing from his location 200 miles to the east of me. Over the past few days I have been receiving WWV and the OTH radar on 26 MHz.

Sometimes location can matter. I would sometimes hear stations on 52.52, on tropo openings, which a friend 47 miles NNE of me would not hear. But then he would also get things I would not hear. It could be the reflection. Optionally, v-pol vs h-pol theoretically is close to a 6 dB difference, although that usually only plays into near station transmissions/receptions.

BTW, the logging software you guys use, can multiple instances of it be run on a PC, so if you have two scanners you could log each independently?

Maybe - but I know mine is receiving well as I hear Costa Rica daily. Interesting how propagation works.

KMK282 is a likely culprit, since they have 6 bases. But I wouldn't rule out KPF364 as they have been heard in Ohio and Michigan.
