2023 VHF Low Band Logs

Playing around with my SDR, and I caught an interesting conversation.

12/01/2023 16:37 Eastern - 26.210000 MHz, DPL-036, Normal FM (20K0F3E). Mentions of County Highway 361, M-94, blowing snow on roads, and "Chatham" (assume a community). Only thing that correlates is Upper Michigan. (If link doesn't work, plug in 46.354773, -86.990984).
Male ops talking about running to "Pat's Foods" to pick up food, and stop at hardware to get an air filter for "snow machine". Strong signal with deep fades. No call signs or identifications.

I got to get that logging program you guys use!! I have a spare Dell OptiPlex Core i7 Micro Computer, with Win11-pro I could dedicate to it. Third time I've hear action up that way.

Some sort of data stream on 43.660 - Part 22 frequency. No idea on this one.
Asian fishing fleet on 29.875/CSQ.

39.600 pl 118.8 sounds like police dispatch female voice.
Got it 3 times yesterday when band opened a short while.Angelo :/

We had that locally for close to 18 months, when an agency moved to new comms. They set up a cross-repeat to their old channel during the transition. Covid hit, and they forgot to turn off the cross repeat.

I'm also awe of how many users (public service and industrial) operate on expired licenses.

I don't think it was plows; private or county.
These are preppers and survivalists which use 25.010 up to 26.950 MHz in FM for both voice and packet. I've heard them before. They usually "bump" (their term for contact) a friend if they are going somewhere, so they can pick up stuff for them, saving a trip. Back on April 10, 2020, on the frequency of 26.312500 MHz, I caught this message. This is a screen shot.
Most of the time they are wide band FM for voice, and then narrow band for packet. I heard one of them mention they use Kantronics KPC3+ and some kind of terminal program. The ones I know about are mostly northern MI, (north of Saginaw) into the UP, and west to Wisconsin. There are also one or two near Sudbury, Ontario.
