Yes sometimes you have to just lock it on one system. So its working OK now?

I wonder what the band plan is needed for if it's Control Channel only.

No Band Plan for a P25 system.
Yeah having the bandplan checked won't affect anything. It will just ignore it.

Well finally figured it out. The outside antenna I had connected to the radio works great for everything I'm listening to except for Troop I's control channel. Soooo I put a BNC "t" on back of the scanner. One side is the outside antenna, the other a little rubber duck. Now I hear both no problem.
Ah yes good find. Sometimes less signal or maybe even a different spot is the trick.

Probably "attenuated out" the simulcast tower that was affecting his reception.
It wouldn't be impossible that there was work done on the system. It is like any other complex system, it needs maintenance, repairs, upgrades, etc.
I did notice that the CWID on L was not sending for a while but started again on 4/12 (to the default "CHANGEME")
Also, the Harvard Sentences were being broadcast recently which is often used for coverage testing.

I happen to be in the area and heard a general broadcast on fire dispatch for all units to "we're going live, switch over to the Motorola radios." Does anyone know if Hartford just changed from EDAC?
