• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Both radios had the same identical mission plan loaded.
I’m surprised it still took it and didn’t give u a time stamp error feature not installed screen when u would turn to that channel

When you change the firmware the XG-100P will give a time stamp error in the faults menu.

If you enable a feature The radio doesn’t have in rpm doesn’t it make that channel or system inoperable?

Usually, but it didn't with the other XG-100P without MDC-1200 in the feature menu. It just wouldn't show any hexadecimal data. It's quite possible that it was a result of an RPM and/or firmware bug.

It was either with RPM10 and XGP_R02A26 or RPM13 and I'm not sure which version of XGP firmware I would have had loaded at that time. When I had the MDC-1200 feature added, to that radio, it then worked fine.

On the subject of Option codes, can someone explain why an M7300 like this one that presumably came from an ancient EDACS system, would have Option 47 TDMA, but no option 39? I thought TDMA was only used on Trunked systems with P25.

Or an ordering error...Opensky doesn't use TDMA (it's 4 slot, not 2 slot)
It was a NY State only firmware version that doesn’t even contain bootapp/burnapp/ECP…. Have you be extremely careful when looking to purchase one off eBay then u come across a deal too good to be true…

VHF LOW only applies to the XG-100M. The radio will just ignore option 41, since it doesn't support it.

Yeah for Tx… but I heard some early Unity portables where able to RX only VHF-Lo… it really shortened battery life unfortunately

How far back in the development of the XG-100P was this? I have the original, separate, programming application for the XG-100P, before the radio even supported trunking, and I don't remember seeing the ability to program in any low band channels for Rx.

The demo units have all the other 80 features that L3HARRIS had available at the time, but the XG-100P ignores any other features that it doesn't support. Like the mobile features and OpenSky.

What are the RF HW: and DIGITAL HW: version and the firmware in that particular radio?

Here's an example of one of the demo units that has all features enabled including WIDEBAND DISABLED, Option 58.

It is missing Option 41 though, interesting....

Wow I never saw one that’s got a feature string so long haha.. votescan should be included by default i believe… when u select scan it will jump to the channel with the best reception…. I know this because I take mine to work and use it for traffic/road conditions on the NYS Thruway so I don’t have to listen to the news haha
Anyhow i ended up updating mine (not to the newest firmware skipping in between but gradually

Votescan has never worked on any of the ones I've seen without the feature enabled.

BTW. AES 5.01 is not meant for the XG-100P. That's for NON-FIPS capable. AES 4.01 is still listed as the latest for the XG-100P.
