Any BCD536HP users that can help a newbie?

Hi everyone. I just purchased the Proscan and have my 536 connected to my laptop with the USB connected to the front radio port. I am having some issues I hope someone can get me straightened out. With the way I have it connected, I can connect and control the unit with Sentinel but I can't do a lot of things through Proscan. I have the scanner head correct in Proscan. I can adjust frequencies, volume, blah, blah, blah. What I can't do so far is:
Open a database or import my favorites from Sentinel into ProScan.
In the Favorites Editor I can't SCANNER READ. All I get is a window open with no info in it. I can hit Refresh with no results. It's almost like the scanner isn't connected.
I have the correct radio selected in Proscan. My port is on 3 on the highest baud rate.
In the very bottom footer of Proscan main screen I have:
COMM PORT Open Port 3 Baud Rate 115200 MODE Normal DATABASE

Lastly, I assume I need to connect a separate wire to get audio from the 536 to the laptop?
Thanks for any help in advance.....

Can anyone give me the run down on how to create names and add them to the scanner after logging UID. I see the UID after look up that is editable but when i go type a name in there if the same UID transmits ago it overrides with a blank copy. How can i go about logging the UID creating a name with the UID number then adding it into my 996p2.

Thanks

Hi Bob & all,

ProScan 12.1 rules, the best one so far :)

Have it running in 6 sessions with 780, 785 and 15X scanners.

Great job Bob.

Recording setup

I just loaded ProScan and I have connected to my bcd536 through the wifi dongle. My question involves the recording feature.

I am able to record audio and it saves to the selected file location, but should not recordings also be visible in recording screen? When a transmission is detected I line displays with the data about the recording, but as soon as the transmission ends the line if data disappears.

Is this normal behavior, or is there a setting that I have missed?

Are the transmissions less than 2 seconds in length? Go to the Recording Options and uncheck the option "Delete < 2 Seconds Recording Entries From Grid"

Hi Bob,

I've ran up against a bit of a wall here.

BCD996T

See attached screen grab 996T #0.
I select "Salt River Project", and expand the selection.
See attached screen grab 996T #1.
I select "Operations", and expand the selection.
See attached screen grab 996T #2.
I select (highlight) "Association Dispatch Center - Irrigation Operations".
See attached screen grab 996T #3.
I click on "Delete", and I get a Pop-Up Window.
See attached screen grab 996T #4.
I click on "OK", and I am taken back to
See attached screen grab 996T #2.
Nothing was deleted? So I again select (highlight) "Association Dispatch Center - Irrigation Operations", and I am taken back to
See attached screen grab 996T #3.
I "Right Click" on the highlighted "Association Dispatch Center - Irrigation Operations", and I get a Pop-Up Window. (Unable to screen grab this Pop-Up Window) I click on "Delete" (in the Pop-Up Window), and I am taken back to
See attached screen grab 996T #4.
I click on "OK", and, again, I am taken back to
See attached screen grab 996T #2.
Again, nothing was deleted? I want to "trim down" the contents of "Operations". Is there a way to do this?

Thanks!!!

rwier,
How do you get the text tags length longer than 16 characters?

You should be able to delete selected nodes by clicking the node/s and hitting the DEL key or menu Delete.

Are you running the latest version?

I just tested it on a 996T and works fine here. I would try again or test it on a test database file.

I think (lol) that I imported a hpe (?) file from a *36 scanner. The long entries are shown until I try to edit them. Then the 16 character limit takes affect. This is just in the software, I didn't try to send any 16+ titles to a scanner. Will play around with this tomorrow. Thanks for the comeback!

BCD996XT and Proscan Ver. 12.1 Static

Not sure why this is doing this, but I am getting the static in the background amplified with my BCD996XT plugged into my computer. I am broadcasting with Proscan Ver. 12.1, and it works great with my BCD996P2, but not with the 996XT.

I have checked the drivers of my audio inputs to make sure they were setup for Win 10. The tones come over clear, but the voice is all static. I have a 996T setup on the same frequencies, and it sounds good, but if I plug this one in, I get static too.

Anyone know of a setting to delete some of the background static?

Are you using a Mic input? It sounds to me like you have the Mic input level too high and scanner volume too low. I would first make sure ProScan level controls are at 100%. Next, adjust the scanner volume to about 40%. Last, turn the the mic level down more.

I turned my mic input down, and it sounds a bit better. But the sound level is set the same as my 996P2 which comes over great.

Hi Bob,

Something I haven't tried for quite a spell. Trying to Import from the RR DB. Well, it kicks me out. Checked my name and password with the RR Site. Probably something to do with my security stuff. Attached a grab.

Thanks,
Robiin

Hi Bob,

Problem solved!!! It was the WinPrivacy Explorer FireWall Program. Set ProScan as "Allowed" and the next try breezed right through!
