Well anyone have any idea? Can’t open any file and just switches back and forth with the arrow and load circle cursor. Already tried rebooting the computer and it’s the same. Windows 7
I just upgraded to ProScan 12.5 on my Windows 10 machine and the same thing is happening to me, which is very distracting.

ProScan is completely usable, but when the my 396xt is not connected, the cursor switches between the arrow and the busy circle every second as it opens and closes the COM port (per the lower left corner status message).

If your scanner is not hooked up set your com port to "None" that worked for me

I'm confident this has been asked before but I cannot find the answer. In ProScan (which I love BTW), when downloading a multi-site P25 I trunked system, it looks like ALL frequencies are downloaded for each site. Is there a way to only download the Control Channels?

if downloading from the scanner then no, all freqs will be downloaded because the scanner doesn't flag what is and is not a Control Channel.

If you mean importing from the RadioReference database, still no as the RRDB listed Control Channel could be offline. Also the RRDB may not reflect the actual CC.

Quick update: I switched back to version 12.3 on both the client and sever computers and the issue has gone away. Must be the update.

Can you or beachside email me so I can send you the latest with the fix to verify before I release the next version.

Can't Save a control frequency

Hello. I own a BC296D and am mid-way through my trial. Still learning.

I can't seem to save an alternative control frequency (856.6125) for a local P25 system in Dublin, Ohio (COIRS). Currently I have 3 other control frequencies, but despite all my efforts, ProScan never saves it. I sign off, and each time I return, the frequency is never there. Really frustrating because I need to add it.

Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

What do you mean by "sign off"? Exiting or unloading ProScan?

When the program closes, it will prompt you to save the database to a file unless you already clicked the Database - Save menu item.

Are you entering in the frequencies in the Database - Channels - Bank(1 to 10) tab?

When ProScan loads, does the database load? if not, go to the Options Startup and click on Load Database.

{edit} Does the 3 others control frequencies save? ProScan nor the scanner distinguishes between primary control freqs, alternate control freqs, and voice freqs.

Then do I need to edit the file in the scanner (996P2) to only include the control channel(s) or will a P25 system trunk OK with both CC and voice frequencies in the scanner file?

Inputting the Control Channel frequencies only will work. The scanner will find the voice freqs.

There is a benefit to adding all frequencies, as control and voice freqs can be changed without notice, and if you don't have the new control channel in the list of freqs you've sent to the scanner, you'll suddenly lose the ability to monitor the system. The additional scan time for "extra" freqs is negligible, so there's no reason not to scan all the frequencies.

Hello, Could you maybe help me out a bit...

Ok so I have a BC296D that I used your software to program. I went through the RR database and loaded the frequencies for Fort Belvoir (https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=4699) and the talkgroups (Belv FD2, Belv FD Disp, Belv FD Disp, and Belv FfxCoFR). Its all been uploaded to my scanner, but it has been quiet and I just want to make sure that I have it done right. This morning I did get some traffic from a channel while scanning the control channels but it was not FD traffic (not sure who/what it was). I would also like to add the Fairfax County P16 (https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=3514) Fire and rescue back up talkgroups at some point as well. However I am not sure how to load them to Bank 2 (and Trunk list Bank 2) on ProScan. So any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you.

On the quiet issue, make sure you have good signal strength. Since it is a UHF system, Make sure the antenna is UHF tuned. Try ID Search to see if you get more traffic.

When Importing from the RRDB to bank 2, choose channel 101 as the starting channel.

https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=3514) is a rebanded system. Make sure you have firmware 2.0.0.7 Here is the link for more details and how to install the latest firmware.

Ok, so this may be a dumb question, but how would I do an I'D Search? Also the antenna is the original antenna for the scanner.

And I just did the firmware update this morning. And thank you, I don't know why I didn't try that.

Thanks for burning the midnight oil, Bob! Always appreciate the updates - especially with the RSOIP feature. For anyone running a supported radio who hasn't yet tried this software - it is definitely worth the price - and more!
