plaws,
Do you have the correct driver installed?
BCD436HP < UnidenMan4 < TWiki See the section "Windows Serial Drivers"

What happens if you go to the Comm. Port settings and set the Comm Port to None, Then click the Set button, and then click the Auto Detect button? The port should show Available. If the scanner is communicating then the port should show Available BCD436HP.

It does what you'd expect - zeroes it out and then re-adds it ... but then there is no connectivity.

It's a VirtualBox thing.

Magic recipe (in VBox on OS X) was Settings -> Ports -> Serial Ports -> Enable Serial Port Checked (which it was) -> Port Mode: "Host Device"; Connect to existing pipe/socket Checked; Path Address: /dev/cu.usbmodem1421.

Now ... I know from experience that VBox is likely to be very unhappy with me if the scanner is not there and in Serial Port mode next time I bring up the Windows VM, but I'll remember that ... eventually.:D

Thanks for all the help!

Yup, and at N5UWY Actual (as opposed to at work), I have one instance running my BCD436HP and a 2nd instance running my BC780XLT. The BCD996P2 is in the other room, but I'll probably add that to the menagerie shortly ...

Much simpler on a W7 system than fooling with the VirtualBox. :)

Hi Bob,

Just a quick question Here,
I have a Excel spreadsheet full of UIDs that i wish to import directly into ProScan, is there a way i can do this? Or would i have to program them in directly to ProScan first?

You should be able to without to much difficulty.

Here's how:

1. Using Excel, export to a text format (Comma or Tab delimited) file
2. Open the text file and select all (Ctrl + A)
3. In ProScan, select a group where you want the UIDs imported
4. Click the Get Clipboard button
5. Choose the Delimiter; Comma, Tab, or Custom
6. Click the Get From Clipboard Everything button
7. If any rows are grayed out. It's because not valid TGID or UID. In that case may have to modify the UID's in the text file
8. Once you have valid UIDs, the rows will be checked
9. If the UID's don't have an "i" prepended then prepend an "i" to the UID
10. Click Import

Proscan v12.4

Bob

I'd like to publicly thank you for all your outstanding efforts concerning Proscan especially your recent release of v12.4. Specifically, I am referring to the improvement of the primary/secondary sorting ability that now allows multiple talkgroups/start times to be sorted respectively and then played back in chronological order (from first recording to last). Well done!

Thank you very much.

You're very welcome Dennis. I will glady accept that. Once I added the secondary sort glyph, I noticed it needed some work.

NAC identifying

Love Proscan.

Is there anywhere in Proscan I can identify the NAC and system ID of a P25 trunked channel I am listening to? I use the BCD996P2 and can get the system ID if I hold on a control channel. I can get the NAC of a voice channel if I am in search mode. But unless I am missing something, I can't get both at the same time with native BCD996P2 display. Does Proscan capture and list both the system ID and NAC somewhere?

Thanks.

Welp. First, /dev/cu-submodem1421 is only there is you are plugged into the right USB of an MBP. The left USB is 1420. And on different hardware, that's likely a different number. Easily found in /dev, of course. Sadly, I've not been able to get this to work again! Will try, again, to get W10 (the guest OS itself) to see the COM-over-USB natively again. Sentinel has no issues seeing the uSB card from within W10 but doesn't use the COM port so I have no way to test it otherwise. W10 itself seems to see the Uniden serial port but, well, off to try again.

Well anyone have any idea? Can’t open any file and just switches back and forth with the arrow and load circle cursor. Already tried rebooting the computer and it’s the same. Windows 7

You need to reach out to Bob with ProScan and have him deactivate one of your license agreements....I think he will need the IP address of the PC it was on.....

Didn't wait for Bob and purchased another license and still having the same issues. Proscan worked fine in previous versions
