Is there any way to modify the 10 second delay for autoreconnect on RSOIP? I have determined that the daily 200+ disconnects I have on a remote scanner are something outside the house. Unfortunately, the bulk of the missing traffic time seems to be counting up to 10 seconds to try to reconnect. If the online time was days, 10 seconds isn't a big deal.

chris
No, I don't think so. I would look into the root cause of the disconnects.

Thanks! I uninstalled AVG, installed Avast.

It is back to normal. I no longer have the UDP connect error!
I'm legally blind and I just came over to this thread because I'm considering getting ProScan if I can find a few things out. This was the very first post that came up when I bookmark this thread. I have paid versions of AVG on a number of computers. Is there a problem using AVG and ProScan? Thanks for any help for advice. And it will take me a while to go through the different posts due tomorrow Vision so please excuse me if it takes awhile for me to reply sometimes.

AVG is known to interrupt TCP traffic so don't use it if you are using ProScan with any IP features such as RSOIP, Web Server, Source Client, & communicating with IP capable scanners.

Thanks for the reply. I guess that there's no way to change anything in the firewall that would allow doing these features? I know the paid versions I have come with the firewall where the free versions don't but I'm not sure if anything can be changed and make it work? I'm looking into getting the software and I'm trying to learn as much about it as I can right now. I appreciate your reply!

I am thinking of buying Proscan to computer control my new SDS200 once it comes.
I've been reading the user manual and I see that I need a USB converter cable to hook between scanner and PC.
My question is what exactly is a USB converter cable? If it is different from a normal USB cable, where can I buy one?
Also, it says I need a USB converter driver. Where do I get that from?

Regular ol USB cable is fine.
Older scanners needed a USB-Serial adapter.

Whatever you are reading, you are reading wrong. All that's needed is a USB to MicroSD cable. One is supplied with the SDS.

If you have a network you can do it via Ethernet as well, or add a wireless adapter.

I had had the same question or misunderstanding just a few days ago. But ProScan said that all you need is your supplied USB cable and it will work. I had thought that I needed to get a null modem as was described in the instructions I was reading also. But that's just for the older scanners with the DB9 connector on the back of them like the BCD996XT or some of the others. But on the SDS200, it doesn't sound like we will need to do that at all thankfully.

Hey Bob

I’m probably just missing it somewhere but is there a way to put the file for all the unit ids in a central location and point all 5 copy’s of proscan to it so I don’t have to update each file in each folder

It's not clear on what you are asking. At least not to me. Not sure what you mean by "point all 5 copy’s of proscan to it so I don’t have to update each file in each folder".

Is this a database or favorites question or are you asking about the UID logging?

The unit id file the file where I go in and say
Like radio id # 20097 is car566

I don’t have my computer in front of me at the moment so I can’t remember the correct name for it I’ll be back in front of it here in a bit and can get back to you if the wording above doesn’t make sense [emoji16]

I’ve been up driving through Michigan all night so my mind is a little off at the moment

It’s the UID lookup file

I’d like to be able to have just one lookup file and have all copy’s of proscan on my laptop use the one file
Right now I just copy and paste between all copy’s

If you're asking about the Lookup file then no. It has to be in the ProScan folder. You may be able to write a script to copy it into each folder.

I wonder why RSOIP has very little delay as opposed to the web server which locally delays about 24 seconds. (On same network)

Because RSOIP is not using an external media player. It uses the Win API WaveOut method. Media Players have a built in latency/network buffer.
