I don't know as that more of a RDP question and not ProScan. Unless I'm misunderstanding.
You're probably right. I was just hoping that someone had experienced, and found a remedy, to this problem.

No audio via the USB.Hi all, I'm using version 15.3 under Win10 with a BCD-996P2.
I'm trying to set up audio recording and so far not having any success. Does audio come into the PC via the USB connection or do I need a separate analog audio connection to the Line In connector on the PC's sound card? So far all my "recordings" have 0" durations and no audio; this is just using the mini-USB connection from the scanner.
What I'm trying to do is record our local municipal FD/EMS paging frequency during the test hours to break out each set of paging tones, and associate each transmission with the received FD tones in tone search mode. Any assistance greatly appreciated; please and thanks.
No audio via the USB.
OK, so I've connected the REC Out to the blue Line IN port on the PC. In the Windows Mixer I am seeing signal for the Line In port, so there's audio getting in to the computer but I'm still not getting anything from Windows into ProScan using Line In. If I use the pink Mic In port, it seems to be OK, but the Line In doesn't.
You're jumping around which adds to the confusion. Are we dealing with two problems? Let's focus on one problem at a time.Yup, levels are definitely up in both Windows and ProScan. I did have some recording successful, but I must have something set incorrectly in the Fire Tone Out settings because toneouts are NOT being recorded. Regular conventional and trunked talkgroups are fine, but FTOs remain a mystery.
EDIT: Just happened again. I noticed the level indicator did NOT rise with the audio after the toneout. ProScan DID decode the tones but did not record the radio check audio that followed.

On the first problem with the Line In not working and the Mic In is working. Is that resolved? That has nothing to do with being a conv. or trunk system or FTO. That is strictly an audio issue. Is this an intermittent issue. If so, try wiggling the audio cables or replacing them. Also double check that the Mic In works and the Line In does not.
Did you check that the Win Mixer Line In input is set to default? Is the ProScan Input Sound Device set to Primary Sound Capture Device? Two issues. First one: Nothing I do seems to get Line IN audio from the PC (it IS showing up in the Windows mixer) to ProScan. When I switch over to the Mic input and use the Windows mixer to adjust the levels, I am able to record. No amount of plug wiggling seems to fix this on the Line In, and the Mic in works 100% reliably.
Not sure how/where I can check for the first one. As for the second, on the Recorder tab of the Audio Control section, the Input Sound Device is set to Primary Sound Capture Device. On the "Monitor and Test" tab the Capture Audio Service is set to "Recorder." Beyond that, I'm not sure where to look for the highlited line, above.Did you check that the Win Mixer Line In input is set to default. Glad it's working. I would turn down the unused left channel to 0% in ProScan so it will not pick up noise.Aha. Good; progress being made. That was set for Default Communication Device, changed it to default device and I've got audio. It's only coming off the right channel, though.
The Win Mixer is receiving audio on the left channel only. I think it's just the way the scanner jack is configured and the type(mono or stereo) of cable used. The scanner audio is mono so I would leave it at that.I set the recorder to mono, but I'm curious why it's not coming through both channels in the Win mixer.
ProScan emulates the scanner config exactly so this is more of a scanner question. I would post your question in Uniden Tech SupportWhat's beyond this, I can't figure out how to set both the 996p2 and ProScan to decode each tone when multiple pages are sent out together. For example, if a town keys the transmitter and sends 2 tones for FD, 2 tones for a chief, and 2 tones for EMS all in the same transmission, I don't know how to set the radio/software so it decodes all three tone pairs.
Well, I was working perfectly with 15.1, then upgraded to 15.4. I can't seem to stay connected to my BCD536HP scanner any more. It connects the first time I run the software, but then after a few minutes, the screen (scanner screen) goes black and stays black. Checking under Comm Port, URL Setup shows the correct IP and shows both RX and TX counters are incrementing. I lose audio recording and have no control or view of the scanner, Restarting the app and shutting down the scanner and restarting it do not fix the issue. Sometimes if I restart my computer it seems to temporarily fix the issue, but a few minutes later it goes out again. With 15.1, I could leave it running for weeks without any issues.
My computer is connected via a 1Gb wired connection to a switch, trunked to a remote switch which has the access point connected. Total distance between the scanner and the AP is probably 15 feet, so wireless connectivity shouldn't be an issue (and this was working great prior to the upgrade).
Any settings I should check? I didn't keep my copy of 15.1 when I upgraded, so I can't easily uninstall and re-install the old version.
Edit: saw the link for 15.2 in another post and uninstalled 15.4 and installed 15.2... so far, it seems to be working just fine.
Is it just the data (or display) or the audio too not working? I know you said " I lose audio recording" Not sure if that means the actual audio or recorder control which is done on the data side..
No changes have been made on the Wi-Fi data side in a long time. So far I've had all positive reports on ver. 15.4 so I believe it to be the most stable at this time.
I would try the following:
1. Test with 15.4 again
2. Power cycle the scanner again
3. For a test, disable any anti-virus software to see if problem goes away
4. Check the audio URL Setup to see if high Packet Loss which could be caused by low Wi-Fi signal or interference
Looks like something in either 15.3 or 15.4... I made no changes other than uninstalling 15.4 and installing 15.2 and everything has been stable again. Previously, I was losing scanner control/display. I'm not sure about recording since I had that turned off, but I did lose audio (Audio Control/Monitor & Test/Loopback). Previously that worked fine and I could hear audio through my laptop speakers With 15.4, once I lost the display, I also lost audio.
