On trunked systems, most fire departments use a common dispatch talkgroup. Some alert stations on separate talkgroups. If using conventional frequencies, each fire company may have its own frequency. What is your city, county, and state, and which stations would you like to monitor?

Greetings. Wondering if possible to monitor Fire dispatch and have it break squelch on traffic intended for my local fire station.
I tried searching the fourm, apologies if this question has been answered before.

sds100,sds200,bcd536hp proscan and acr536pro
Unless each station has it's own talkgroup (in a trunked system), you're not likely to be able to focus on specific alerts for your vicinity.

Now, if your fire department tones out individual stations on a conventional frequency, then you may be able to utilize the Fire Tine Out capability of the SDS or x36HP scanners.

While it's uncommon, at least for just about all the fire/ems agencies around my area, there is one local department, on a NXDN system, that uses specific TGIDs for alerting based on which station is 'first up', and whether other stations are also being dispatched.

Good Morning.

I was never able to connect to the free trial So with all the good feedback on RR, I just purchased the software. Anyway. Mirroring the scanner display is nice. I’ve tried reading over the official thread to learn. Most of the YouTube tutorials? Not much help! The Manual? should print it?

I was looking for something like the old “Win 500” software that I used with my GRE PSR 500. Simple. Looking for a “guru” or someone who can help. Sentinel is simple. This has a lot of other bells and whistles for sure!

Again, I am not angry. Or complaining. This just seems to be very hard to learn…for me anyway.

Any insight or help is appreciated.

Good Morning,
I take it you are trying to get the virtual display to work. Is that correct? What type of scanner do you have? If you have a BCD536HP or SDS200 then you have an option of using the Ethernet connection besides the regular serial port connection. If using the serial port connection then the first thing to do is go to the Win Device Manager and see if the serial port is working. You may need the serial port driver. See this link and the Windows Serial Drivers section.

Advise where you're at in the process and if you want to go with the Ethernet connection method.

Thank you for your kind response. No the virtual display seemed to work fine. I have an SDS 100. No need for Ethernet. Just trying to understand everything. Seems to be rather complex to me?

But I appreciate the response and kindness!

If you want to read the favorites from the scanner. Click the Favorites Editor check box located in the top menu on the left side. After the Favorites Editor opens then click on File then New then navigate to a folder where you want the Favorites to be saved. Click the 'Make New Folder" button and give it a name then click the OK button. Now put the scanner in Mass Storage mode then click on Scanner Read.

Thank you. This is exactly the type of information I was looking for. I’ll get to it in a day or two.

Very Much appreciated. Thank you!

Hi, I am trying to purchase and get this error " ERROR:Out of range value for column 'Invoice' at row 1 "
Thanks for letting me know. It's fixed. Try it again.
The problem was the MySQL database order # column needed the datatype changed from SMALLINT to MEDIUMINT. It was choking at the max value of 32767.

Sounds like a good problem to have.

Appreciate the software and the work that has been put into it.

Ok….so I have my display thing working. I read the scanner’s favorites lists over. Still seems like it’s very, very complicated to me. The you tube videos were not much help. The manual. It’s a lot!
I’m still trying…

Having problems with Windows 11 and ProScan Virtual Display Uniden SDS100 - No display from Radio - Com port shows connected

This is windows 11 pro - using Parallels, on a Mac Book Pro M1 -
Using ProScan 19.4.0 - also tried all the way back to version 17 same problem -
Window shows connected to radio via com port - but no display

"Mass Storage" mode works fine and both ProScan and Sentinel can connect and grab data (favorites, update database etc..) off the radio just fine in Mass Storage Mode.

I have uninstalled usb drivers - and when radio is plugged back in the driver are auto re-installed by windows.
Windows TPM is turned on... Dot Net35 has been installed to the latest version (the only one windows will allow)
The cable I believe is the original from the box, and has worked fine on old computer.

Additional Information:
Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 21H2
Installed on ‎6/‎4/‎2022
OS build 22000.708
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22000.708.0

Note: I have no problems with my setup on old Mac Book Pro, on Windows 10 - same cable, same radio -
unfortunately the computer will be going to someone else shortly, so really would like to get this working on new computer.

ProScan targets the .Net Framework 4.8. The correct framework is installed and enabled. If it wasn't then ProScan wouldn't run at all.

On the "In Use By This Instance" message, Set the Comm Port to None then click the Set button then Auto Detect again.

Here's a couple of links. There's many more. If these don't help then google "radioreference Parallels proscan" or "radioreference Parallels comm. port"

Truthfully, I’m still not sure. The fact that I’m still trying to learn things on the SDS 100 six months after I got it probably says a lot. What I did do this morning was print the ProScan Manual. If I can get to understanding the programming “nuts and bolts” and things like “quick keys”, I’d be happy with that. Many of these features you have available look to be amazing - but I’m not there yet!

I’m going to start by combing through the manual for better understanding.

Looks like you’ve put a lot of work into this software. I guess it’s time for me to try to understand things better. For me anyway, so far, this radio and everything attached to it has not been easy to learn! No reflection on you or your software!

Did you program the scanner using Sentinel before? You will need to use Sentinel to update the scanner firmware, update the master Uniden database, and profile editing. The master database updating is optional if you are using ProScan to import directly from the RadioReference database. I would use Sentinel at first to get a better grip on how the scanner is programmed. ProScan can program the scanner the same way that Sentinel does it. ProScan has more features and options if you want to go that route.

The ProScan manual doesn't attempt to address any of the scanner functions including Quick Keys. Check out this document. Easier to Read SDS-100/200 Digital Scanner Manual Search for "Quick Key" and the section Understanding Quick Keys. It may take several readings and several cups of coffee over several days.

Anyone else having troubles not having the google map come up when looking up site locations?
I noticed that yesterday using the internal browser. For a workaround, uncheck the "Use Internal Web Browser" box so your default browser will show the map. At this point, I believe the Google API is causing a JavaScript error. I will look at it before the next release.
