That did the trick. Thanks.Download from his website.
Ok, maybe I was not clear enough, I apologize for that. The scanner does NOT go into “mass storage “ mode by itself. I hit enter like you’re supposed to. If I don’t, it goes into normal scanning mode, no problem. The issue at hand is this : I plug the programming cable into the USB port with device manager window open. At first I see it in the LPT/COMPORT setting. Fine. Then the screen on the scanner asks if you want to go into mass storage mode, I hit enter. As soon as I do that, you hear the scanner disconnect from the computer sound, then the reconnect sound. However, once in mass storage mode, the LPT/COMPORT tab disappears completely from the device manager and I can’t do anything to / from the scanner via the program. I am using Windows 10 and the Uniden cable that the scanner came with. I don’t get it. And it was working fine until yesterday. I haven’t done any windows updates, changed anything on the computer to justify this. When using other software like Sentinel, and I try to update the firmware or database I get this:
However, with Sentinel I am able to read and write to the scanner. That’s why I originally thought it was a ProScan issue after I updated to the latest version. Now I’m not sure what’s going on.😏
This is normal. When you hit E and go into Mass Storage Mode, the scanners serial port and its functions are disabled internally in the scanner which is why they disappear from device manager on your computer. If you want to control the scanner with ProScan Do NOT go into Mass Storage Mode and your serial port will remain active for ProScan to use and also remain available under device manager.
Mass Storage mode is only for direct access to the scanners SD card for firmware updates or the weekly Uniden DB Updates but you Cannot control the scanner while it's in Mass Storage Mode.
That's fine. However, this began as an issue while using Proscan, so that's why I posted here. Now that I see it is not, I am gonna let it go. I will figure this out on my own.......The Uniden Server is back up. Please post any Uniden issues in the Uniden forums in the future.
UPDATE: Now that the Uniden server is up, Sentinel is working flawlessly. My only remaining problem is ProScan. Two computers, two different operating systems, the latest version of ProScan on both, .and both doing the same thing ONLY with ProScan. I don't get it...That's fine. I'm not aware of any problems. What exactly is it doing or not doing?UPDATE: Now that the Uniden server is up, Sentinel is working flawlessly. My only remaining problem is ProScan. It look intermittent. I'll check it out. ThanksYour website: http://www.proscan.org/
is down as of this post.
Well, at the risk of sounding repetitive, The scanner is ok if I just want to do a remote scan display on the computer screen. Once I put it into "mass storage " mode to upload or write to it, the radio seems to stop communicating with the program. The program only sees shows 2 options under port set up " None, URL" Then you open the device manager to see if the cable driver needs updating and there is now no COMMPORT / LPT port tab. Again, there's communication if I just want a remote display on my screen. Otherwise, can't read or write to/from the scanner.I'm not aware of any problems. What exactly is it doing or not doing?

im getting this error message when trying to import from rr in proscan 19.7 it fails to get data when importing other county systems. Im in illinois trying to import jefferson county, other systems, businesses
YES! Now then, if that is normal behavior, then how do I read from / write to the scanner when I'm NOT trying to use it for remote display purposes? That's normal. When the scanner is in Mass Storage mode, the Serial Port mode is disabled.
What happens when you take the scanner out of Mass Storage mode? Does the comm. port reappear in the Device Manager and ProScan starts to communicate with the scanner?
If you have been following my posts, that is exactly where the problem lies, when in mass storage mode, the scanner stops communicating with the software and I cannot read or write to the radio.Yeah, from the sounds of it you’re describing correct behavior but saying it’s incorrect.
Want to read/write to it? Put it in mass storage mode.
