have you read my posts comlpletely? I AM doing that. It is in MASS STORAGE mode that the scanner stops communicating and the program will not read from/write to the scanner....It SHOULD stop being controllable by ProScan when in mass storage mode...that's normal! Unplug the USB, reconnect the USB, hit the button on the scanner to enter Mass Storage Mode, read/write to your heart's content.
Yes sir,That solved my problem, thanks !!Try 19.7.1 (from the website, not in app update) and see if that fixes it.

I don't see a "Ports (COM & LPT)" category in your screenshot. Check your computer. Thats what I just said. " as it goes into USB mass storage mode, you hear the sound of it disconnecting from the computer, reconnecting, then the LPT Commports disappears from device manager. ". That is what...forums.radioreference.com
Does the scanner display show "USB Mass Storage"? What type of scanner? Are you seeing an error message? Didn't you swap out cables before when you thought that had something to do with the Sentinel server down? If so, can you put back in the original cable.have you read my posts comlpletely? N1SQB, Are you trying to get the scanner display on your computer or read/write the favorites from/to your computer? You can do both but not at the same time. When the scanner is in Mass Storage mode (non Serial Port mode) then you should be able to read/write the favorites to/from your scanner. When the scanner is in Serial Port mode (non Mass Storage mode) then you should be able to get the scanner display on your computer.
If you can answer my questions, that would be great so we can help and we we can take it one step at a time.
What type of scanner are you using?

Thanks for the update.I understand how the software works. I was trying to read from then later write to the scanner. I think I have it solved though. I cleared all the USB ports, then plugged the scanner into a different USB port after moving some other items around, and now it is working. Not sure if it was a port issue or what but it is working.
Thank you for your help. I have one question, maybe it was me, but I thought in past versions of the software, the virtual screen mimicked the exact colors that the scanner has, in this case, the SDS200. I'm asking because when it boots up, the software shows one solid color on the display, not a copy of what the scanner is set to. Is this supposed to happen? Here is what I mean. ( see pics) I know the color is changeable, that is not the issue. It's the screen being one solid color instead of the colors on the scanner screen. No big deal but I am curious if there is a reason for this. Thanks for the update.
That's normal when the scanner boots up (or is in menu mode) because the Sentinel profile colors only defines "Simple Conventional", "Simple Trunk, Detail Conventional", etc. modes and not boot or menu colors. Never in past versions did it do that.Thank you for your help. oh ok. So there's no way then to boot up in detailed trunk mode which is what my screen is set to. Ok got it. Maybe something to think about for future updates? It wold be nice. That's normal when the scanner boots up (or is in menu mode) because the Sentinel profile colors only defines "Simple Conventional", "Simple Trunk, Detail Conventional", etc. modes and not boot or menu colors. Not past versions. No changes in this area in the longest time.
I see now. On the instance that is showing one color, go to the Options -> Scanner Specific tab then click the "Sentinel profile.cfg File Location" button then choose the location of the Sentinel profile using, then click the OK button.Thank you for your help. Now i'm cookin with gas....LOL Thank you very much...The virtual screen matches exactly to the scanner's screen.I see now. Not that I'm aware of. I'll keep an eye out for others having same problem.Just a FYI, since doing the last update, proscan crashes every couple days now. Before the last update, was running fine for months without issues. Something change in new update?
Personally I think Win 10 and Win 11 are the most stable versions yet. I've seen problems in the past with the graphics deep down in the OS causing problems with video drivers but I haven't seen that recently.I will mess with it more this week and see before reverting back. Win10 sucks and bet that’s the issue. Never had issues with win7. I’ll let you know.
