ProScan Version 1.7 Build 2 includes the RadioReference Imports feature, improved Scanner Over IP, and bug fixes.

Supported scanners are the BCD996T, BC796D, BC785D, BC780XLT, BC296D, and the BC250D.

I'm thriving to make this the best Computer Aided Scanning program and suggestions are very much appreciated.

I'm not seeing the NAC logged in the History logging grid or in the History Log.txt file for any of my P25 systems. The NAC field is empty for each transmission row. I have NAC set to search for those systems and I see the NAC on the scanners display and in the data blob in Proscan on the "Test and Extras" tab. I'm running 19.10 currently against an SDS200 though I've been trying to make it work for at last the last 5 or 6 versions with no luck. Did I miss a setting somewhere or something else I need to tweak to log the NAC?

There are two You Tube videos that I found particularly helpful setting up Proscan, as well as linking it to my cell phone for remote monitoring.

Part 1 Setting up Proscan:

Part 2 Setting up remote monitoring through cell phone:

I was able to remotely access the scanner via my Raspberry Pi4 (the Raspberry Pi4 uses a Linux based operating system) via the outside IP address using the Raspberry Pi4's browser, and it seemed to work fine.

Is there some simplified guide somewhere that details how to set up some kind of web server using ProScan or similar that will allow me to connect, from a browser, and control and/or listen to the scanner remotely? I have the ability to connect to my scanner using ProScan, but my main use case is I have Linux machines and I'd like to be able to connect to some kind of web server I run, from a remote Linux machine, using a browser, and see/hear my scanner. Bonus points if I can also present a restricted feed to others, who can listen but NOT control it.

Yes it is. BUT, would be nice to build in some kind of ability to do a query and print out in a word document or word pad for those of us with a large recorded file.
What type of scanner?
Have you seen the Export/Print utility? See if that suits your needs.
Why don't you send me the suggestion via email. Explain exactly what kind of query or what the query is suppose to do.

Per the proscan.org Bug Reporting and Suggestions
Suggestions
If you have suggestions, send an email to support@proscan.org One suggestion per email. The advantage of email is that I can ask additional questions to make sure the suggestion is done right and send you the latest ProScan file with the suggestion implemented. Priority is given to suggestions received initially via email. Put "suggestion" or "request" in the Subject line.

Just wondering. Besides remote use and The display/logging feature, what are some of the other top features of this software?
Thanks.

I would say the Database (Non-DMA & DMA models) and the Favorites Editor (BCDx36HP and SDSx00 models). There's also a few goodies such as the Band Scope (on models with that supported in the protocol). If you haven't tried ProScan yet, I suggest trying the fully functional 30 day demo/trial.

ProScan has extra capabilities that I don't believe Sentinel has such as:
  • Multiple Favorites on the same tree which makes it easy to Copy & Paste and Drag & Drop systems
  • Find Duplicates utility
  • Find & Replace utility
  • Update Text Tags utility
  • Import directly from RRDB. RadioReference subscription required
  • Import from the Win Clipboard or from a RR web page. No RadioReference subscription required
  • Versatile Sorting options
  • Google Maps showing all the systems with circles or rectangles
  • Export nicely formatted web page showing any or all (user selectable) FQK's, SQK's, Number Tags, and systems
  • Copy & Paste and Drag & Drop nodes to other systems and other ProScan instances
  • SDS200 FTP Read & Write using the Ethernet connection
  • View the differences between ProScan and the Scanner favorites when writing and reading to and from the scanner
  • Modify Uniden (HPDB) Database utility
Sentinel is needed for firmware updates. It's also needed for accessing the full HPDB (Uniden DB) (updated weekly for free) which is derived from the RRDB (Radio Reference DB). If you're a Premium Radio Reference Subscriber, you can import directly from the RRDB in real time. Sentinel is needed for Profile editing. ProScan doesn't have a profile editor as it would be 100% duplication that couldn't be improved on.

The P25 NAC logging in ProScan hasn't changed in a really long time. I compared ver. 17.9 and 19.10 source code just now and the tone section is exactly the same. I ran 2 instances of ProScan, 1 instance using 17.9 and the other instance using 19.10 on the same scanner at the same time and both instances are logging the P25 NAC.

That being said, ProScan gets the NAC from the xml <ConvFrequency> SAD element. It's been like that from day 1. I see another element SAS that appears to have the same tone as SAD. The protocol doc doesn't explain the difference between the SAS and SAD elements. It just says "See Sheet : 'Sub Audio' " which I couldn't find.

I will use the SAS element for the tone in addition to the SAD element in the next release.

Is this a P25 conventional, P25 One-Freq, or P25 trunking system? I don't see any bugs. You may be looking at the Site NAC which was never logged. Not just 5 or 6 versions ago but it's been the same for years. You could always revert 5 or 6 versions to see if that works.

Bob, Are the category headings 'System Type' and 'Digital Status', only available to be used with the SDS100/SDS200/SDS100E/SDS200E?

BCD436HP, BCD536HP, UBCD3600XLT, SDS100, SDS200, SDS100E, SDS200E, USDS100
If nothing is appearing in those columns then the scanner is not sending the info.

I messed around with the 'Scanner Type'. All those scanners you listed , when selected under 'Scanner Type'. Show the 'System Type', 'Digital Status' and 'Service Type', columns. But, The 325P2 and 996P2 don't show those columns when selected.

325P2-

SDS100-

Now, Do you see the difference?

Bob only has so much time, and Proscan has only been designed for certain models of scanners, and Windows only operating systems. You can only do such much, there's only a certain amount of time to devote to his endeavors at programming. Proscan doesn't have a staff of programmers. I think that even if you would like to see other operating systems and scanner models included in the mix, then that would great, but it's just not realistic when staff is limited to one guy. That having been said, it would be cool to have the Proscan program compatible with the Raspberry Pi4 Linux system, strictly for my own personal selfish reasons, plus, Linux is much more stable than Windows. All that having been said, I congratulate Bob on what he is able to accomplish, as his frequent updates to Proscan software are unsurpassed by any other software developer I know of.

Folks,
The next version is going to have "shortcuts" that customizable. I've received a few request on adding shortcuts, macros, hotkeys, etc.
I figure that the shortcuts can be categorized as scanner operations and non scanner operations. I'm doing the scanner ones now. I'm not sure about the non scanner related shortcuts and what purpose they will serve. If anyone has suggestions or ideals, let me know.

User interface
Scanner Control.png

The file to customize the shortcuts is going to be like this
# SHORTCUTS FILE

# Name shown, Shortcut keys, Type: Menu, Vol, Sq {Menu sequence, or Vol & Sq value}

# Shortcut keys are optional
# Text is not case sensitive
# Text after # (Pound) characters are ignored

# EXAMPLES:
# Custom Search, Ctrl+A, Menu {Search for, Custom Search}
# Main Menu, Ctrl+M, Menu {}
# Show IPs, Ctrl+Shift+A, Menu {Settings, LAN Settings, Show IPs}
# Set Zip, Ctrl+Z, Menu {Set Your Location, Enter Zip Code, USA=90012}
# Close Call Off, Ctrl+C, Menu {Close Call, Set CC Mode, CC Off}
# Close Call DND, Ctrl+C, Menu {Close Call, Set CC Mode, CC DND}
# Vol 14, Ctrl+V, Vol {14}
# Vol 50%,, Vol {50%}
# Squelch 5, Ctrl+S, Sq {5}
# Squelch 25%,, Sq {25%}

Show IPs, Ctrl+Shift+A, Menu {Settings, LAN Settings, Show IPs}
Custom Search, Ctrl+A, Menu {Search for, Custom Search}
Set Zip,, Menu {Set Your Location, Enter Zip Code, USA=90012}
Main Menu, Ctrl+M, Menu {}
Close Call Off, Ctrl+C, Menu {Close Call, Set CC Mode, CC Off}

I've been having an issue since the latest update where my SDS-200 will be connected and working fine then suddenly the display on proscan goes blank and audio drops out also. This is my first time really using the recorder feature for a long time (course of several hours at a time), so I'm not sure if that has something to do with it. Any ideas? It's been working flawlessly for over a year otherwise.
