ProScan Version 1.7 Build 2 includes the RadioReference Imports feature, improved Scanner Over IP, and bug fixes.

Supported scanners are the BCD996T, BC796D, BC785D, BC780XLT, BC296D, and the BC250D.

I'm thriving to make this the best Computer Aided Scanning program and suggestions are very much appreciated.

I've spent a few hours trying out Proscan and I'm very impressed. I really like the virtual control, the fact that it can program a wide variety of Uniden scanners, the mute button (!), the fact the the virtual control looks just like the controls and screen for the scanner.

I've never done a scanner stream before, but might take a look at that. It would be neat when I'm out of town to be able to log in and see what's going on in my area. That's if I can figure out how to set that up.

I have a bunch of questions about the database/frequency function. These are things that I either can't figure out or aren't sure if the are available. Hopefully some of the experienced users can help me out. I've both looked on line and in the manual, but have had no luck. My search fu is week today.

Is there are way to set a default save location other than the Proscan folder? I'm not sure that I really need to change anything or if I'm just not used to how the pop up window works.

I've been able to copy a column, but have not been able to copy a row or multiple rows. Since I build a lot of my own Favorites Lists and to do that use the RRDB import function, I sometimes move information around to make it easier to see when I'm scanning.

I also have not been able to move a row up or down to reorder it. Again, this is just for my convenience. An example is one of the regional fire nets imports from the RRDB in frequency order, but I'd rather put it in channel number order.

I can add a channel or TG, but I can't insert a row between two other entries.

It seems that the only way to create a new file is to create it first, then read it out of the radio and save or save as. I think that I can figure out a work around, but if there is an easier way to do that I'd like to know.

In the Favorites Editor, go to the File menu then Save As, then choose the folder or create a new folder then click the OK button.

Use the tree on the left side. Hold down the Ctrl key and select the nodes or hold down the Shift key to select consecutive nodes.

After the nodes are selected, drag the nodes to the desired location with the mouse left button. To copy and not move, use the mouse right button.

I don't follow. What exactly are you trying to achieve? You can open a Sentinel file by going to the File menu, then Open, then navigate to the Sentinel Favorites.

Right clicking will bring up a menu but it doesn't have a "move" function as that would be more steps. It's easier to just drag the node/s.

I got it, finally. It looks like for the x36HP and SDS scanners each "Personality" for lack of a better word has to be saved in a different sub folder. If that's correct, that problem is solved. That's different than when I want to save a 325P2 file, but I know that the memory structure is different between the scanners.

Again, just a different way of doing it. It makes sense in a program that spans a wide variety of scanner models.


One problem I discovered was my doing. I created a ProScan file on my G drive which is an external drive where I keep my data. The couple of times I saved data to the Proscan file on my C drive. That's been resolved.

I've had it running a few days scanning only that frequency but have had zero hits despite them being called out a few times on various calls (which is still paged out on analog NFM). My question is...why would the search yield no hits?

The scanner is scanning a conventional system. Is that correct? If ProScan is logging other traffic then I would say the the scanner isn't reporting any activity on that conv. frequency for an unknown reason. For troubleshooting purposes, go to the Options - General tab and check the options "Scanner Data to 'Scanner Data.txt" File and then after the scanner stops on that frequency, look at the file and see if the scanner sent the data.

I know they have transitioned to NXDN but I am only assuming they have actually transmitting since historically they always use their private channel when responding to calls. I noticed I had stopped receiving them on analog but was seeing the radio flash the s-meter some as it was scanning after they were paged out. If I stopped on that channel and switch to monitor (open squelch) mode I can hear the digital noise. (I'm talking about a radio here used for monitoring in this case...). They, within the last few months, added NXDN emission to their licensed frequencies. Stands to reason they're NXDN now.

My last experiment was to copy Proscan data files from my desktop to my laptop to see if they would work. I've had an issue with that in the past with another program.

It worked. Which saves me a lot of loading and copying of various personalities for my SDS scanners.

You would need to use different ports. Starting second instance of web server will throw an error if configured for a port already in use.

Negative.

I don't know but there's zillions of websites on HTML and JavaScript so you may want to research it.

They've had a couple of calls lately but I'm still only seeing the analog repeater ID every 30 minutes and no other hits. No idea why it would be a scanner issue but I guess anything is possible.

Like I said in # 7870, look at the 'Scanner Data.txt" and see if the data is arriving from the scanner. That should break down the problem.

Go to the Test & Extras tab then click the "Windows File Explorer Application Folder" button.

OK, yeah I overlooked that. Found it now. That file has lots of data in it so it seems to be communicating with the scanner.
