36.5 74.4 Spanish coming in to central KY right now, strong signal, a male and a female chatting.
There is a squak when the male transmits at the beginning before he starts speaking.

Does the traffic on 36.5000 MHz FM 74.4Hz sound similar to this:

32.180 MHz FM 77.0 Hz CTCSS Taxi Cab Dispatch - Alajuela Costa Rica 4 Jan 2023 - Part 1

32.180 MHz FM 77.0 Hz CTCSS Taxi Cab Dispatch - Alajuela Costa Rica 4 Jan 2023 - Part 2

or this?

31.200 MHz FM 203.5 Hz CTCSS Land Mobile Radio Comms VHF Low Band DX VHF Lo Skip DX 13 January 2023
31.200 MHz FM 203.5 Hz CTCSS Land Mobile Radio Comms VHF Low Band DX VHF Lo Skip DX 13 January 2023

I know that other DXers have monitored Latin American taxi, business comms, etc. in the higher portion of the band (above 36 MHz) during good band openings. Or, you’ve stumbled upon a full-duplex radiotelephone link (although it sounds like a regular push to talk system going by your description). 36.500 MHz does fit within the (usually used) 20 kHz channel spacing - I know that many places use 10 kHz offset, 5 kHz offset or 12.5 kHz/25 kHz spacing instead of the 20 kHz spacing.

Sounds like the second one, the squak is exactly the same but it sounded like the squak was at the end of her transmission which is backwards from what I was hearing.

Hearing 26.125 mhz USB sounds like a UK CB channel whistles talk about gordie ect and can hear a few very weak stations all chatting.

Around local sunset here 1700 utc (12 est - 9am Pacific) I could briefly hear the N6LIZ repeater above Pasadena, CA on 29.660 today - can anyone suggest some busy low vhf freqs from California below the 39 mhz CHP channels? I used to hear a few on 31 and 35 mhz last time round but wonder what is active these days. Any suggestions would be great.

29.899 RTTY S-7 signal

So today @ 16:39 UTC I'm hearing the 29.899 signal. There is also RTTY at 29.925 and 29.963.. (Radio set to USB). They aren't very strong.. In the S1 S2 range.

Best I can see is that they're using the 170 Hz split. Not sure of the baud rate etc.. Tinkered a bit but couldn't manage to decode..

Anybody have any idea what this RTTY is, and why would someone be using these frequencies commercially? Seems they'd be very hit and miss.. (Dependent on solar activity). -- No luck with Google.

Just to add to my post above... The 29.899 signal is loud now at S5. I swung the beam around and it's strongest to the South/West - 120 degrees. (Look at a map of North America and draw a line from Manitoba to Florida).

That is southeast, unless MB has moved. :)
