Anyone hear NG helo chatter? There was a UH-60 flying from east to west over Lapeer around noon today.

Yesterday at about 1500 hrs, my wife shot a picture of a Chinook passing over her parents home in Ypsilanti(say about the Michigan ave-US12 Ford Blvd area) They were very low to the ground. I just found this out today when she showed me the pictures. I did not hear any chatter.

Seems like an increase in all military action, I have also heard a lot of EAM's going out on 11.175 and have heard numerous aircraft asking for radio checks and for phone patches.

I would guess they were flying to Grand Ledge where their base is.

I have been seeing some of what appear to be C-130's (or another cargo prop plane) flying (2 to be exact) over Sault Ste. Marie today and yesterday. One was on approach yesterday at about 16:30, it appeared olive drab and was flying very low. It appeared to be going into the Sault Ste. Marie Ontario airport. Then another one flew over VERY low today around 1130 leaving the Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Airport. This one was your typical gray color. Both were coming from (or going to) the East.

Any ideas on what they were doing and where they were going? Its quite an unusual sight for here.

First off, Merry Christmas!

I've finally got some time off, so I wanted to program the military frequencies in this thread into my BDC396T. This is noob thing, so I figured the easiest way would be go back through the 13 or so pages of this thread and write down the frequencies that you guys have observed usage on, and then program them into the scanner. Could it be as easy as that? Do I have to worry about AM modes?

Enjoy your holiday!

Lots of good activity today with Sting 21, Chevy 21, Tejas 21, and Demon 11 flights. I heard one reference "6 miles north of VIPER (sp? VIPR?)" a few minutes before recovery, anyone know where that is?

Also, AR220 is going to be active tonight so keep a look out for 127 or 927 callsign/freq usage if they go up.

I drove by Selfridge today and had the scanner going when two jets came in for a landing. Prior to touchdown, one of the pilots talked about "swinging over the lake" before coming in. It was pretty cool to hear them coming from 6 miles out on the scanner and then see them touchdown!

Vanity Fair 911 recordings including Selfridge traffic

I saw this posted over in the military form, I'm not sure if this was ever posted here, but what I found most interesting was the Selfridge recording regarding the F-16s, likely a Demon or Chevy flight returning from the Pike or Steelhead MOA and sent down to intercept United Flight 93 over Ohio.

I haven't been monitoring Selfridge ANG Base for about six months now. I know they have gone though numerous changes in their aircraft, missions, etc. For those of you actively monitoring it, has there been any significant changes in what you are hearing?

Thanks

I'm over in Kalamazoo nowadays so I haven't been listening to Selfridge. However sometime last week I did get a random KC-135 passing by on the way home. Callsign was Auto 71 on 314.2 with 6 crew and 13 pax. They were requesting airstairs upon arrival. Just FYI the 927th will be using their remaining KC-135s for transporting equipment down to MacDill AFB as the move gets closer.
Does anyone know if the DHS wing has moved in yet?

Also, I'm looking to complete the preset table for 180FW Toledo ANG. Any additions?
