Hey Jared,
Your getting another C-17 tomorrow. 274.450 AR-220 Prime. RHINO 50 w/ STEEL? 73 talking about when Wright Patt will be getting the next C-17, 07:20pm.

So I've heard - I believe this one will be 93-0603, but I haven't gotten a confirmation yet. Hopefully I can get out to photograph it!

0045Z RHINO 50 (C-5A, 70-0453) calling inbound, A2 (main landing gear failed to center after caster, copilot's flight director off flag in view with no steering bar, left side door intermittently unlocks), parking A5. Also heard STEEL 73 call their CP briefly with ETA and no writeups.

SAM 91 (Back-up AF-1, 747 or C-32?)
120.150 MTC twr, landing, 10:59am.

The Presidential aircrafts' military designation are VC-127 (V for VIP, C for cargo). They are 747-400's if memory serves.

The E-4B's are different aircraft altogether, & are 747-200's.

I was stationed at Offutt for a couple years, & the E-4 alert hanger was right outside the back door of my shop. Wish I had pictures of the inside of the E-4, but that was a big no-no. All I can say is, WAY COOL.

Back when Clinton was President, while they still had the 707's, either he or Al Gore came to Michigan, & the E-4 that was "on duty" did a couple touch-&-go's at Battle Creek. Brought back memories. :)

(Chuck, I envy you being able to pick up all that traffic out of Selfridge!)

Actually, the designation is VC-25A. I don't recall if that or the C-32A was used on the trip, though.

Oops, my bad. I shoulda known better than to trust my memory. (It's he!! getting old) ;)

Those C-32's are sharp-looking aircraft. About time they updated the SAM fleet.

Ok although Ive been looking high & low for a 780 for a long time I cant find one that I can ship here for a reasonable price I did however find locally a 898T cheap that I wish to dedicate to milair for whatever I can pickup in the Windsor/Detroit area , I have been using a BC895 which only gets a portion of milair band
& a yeasu ht for the rest ,...Not an ideal solution but has worked so far ... with the little RS sputnik antenna
Now if I get this 898 i will have 500 channels to program
previously I had not been taking it too seriously I had just put in what common selfridge freqs I could find & added whatever else I saw logged in this forum , So now I would like to ask what would be the best freq lists to program with ? has anyone compiled any updated lists for the area ?
Now that I have got a taste of it with some success I would like recommendations
on how to take a more serious & organized approach to programming .

Ok that was probably a rather dumb noobish question,...its been a while since I played with milair .
so after a refresher reading course from the wiki I put in the common area freqs ,artcc & setup the search ranges & added the most popular ones from here.

collecting dust , thats a shame , you dont make trips to Windsor occasionally do you?

Not recently. I do have a passport and live on the eastside of Detroit so its not like I have far to travel to get there. I'd like to venture over some time and drive along Riverside Dr along the river to Lake St. Clair.

Lots of reports of explosion , or earthquake here ,..Environment Canada recorded it as an earthquake felt from Windsor to possibly Toronto? They are now saying it was military aircraft exercise over the lake....
I wasn't specifically monitoring Mil-air today , anyone hear anything out of the ordinary?

There was an actual F-16 Scramble from Toledo today. They must've broke the sound barrier over Lake Erie to catch up to the aircraft.

Happy BUFF Day 03-15-11

Hello all,
Was out running errands today from around 1pm to 4pm. Never heard any of the aircraft below while in the car. I do have a scanner in the car, but with running in & out of stores, I missed it all. Fortunately I did have a scanner at home being recorded. Was really bummed out when I started listening to the recording, & realizing what I had missed today. Well at least I did get to hear what I missed. ;~)
