Fire Dispatch - Possible Orange County NY

Is transmitting from Orange County NY. However, it's one of the local radio shops that is doing it, Orange County officially stopped using low band when they migrated over to their P25 Phase II system.

Orange County Fire Control is still transmitting on 46.16. I am listening to them as we speak. My guess is that they are still using it due to the many cross band repeaters to uhf in the county,

Orange County, NY is still using 46.16. I believe there are still many crossband repeaters to uhf owned by many of the county fire departments.

Nope, the county isn't. Its a cross band link that was set up by Crudele Communications. It wasn't done at the request of the County.

Maybe keep an ear to 39.7 (no tone). I'm fairly sure one of the Kansas State interop towers near me has 39.7 locked open for some reason. I'm curious how far it's received other places.

Use the limit search feature. You will want an antenna better suited for the frequency range than the one that came with the radio, one for VHF-Lo TV channels, CB, or the 6 meter ham band can be easy options.
