Paxton Van Pool transmits with a PL of 131.8. If you heard CSQ it was likely someone else.

I was gonna make the same comment as Mike, but this now makes sense.
Maybe a suggestion to note if CW Confirmation vs voice/dispatch

Great lists and always enjoy your finds/postings.

I heard the Morse ID WQPU857 which the FCC shows licensed to:
Van Pool Transportation LLC
18 Cottage Ave, HAMPDEN, MA

with the transmitter located at:
Asnebumskit Rd
Paxton, MA

Yup, I am familiar with it. Okay that makes sense. The CW ID was transmitted CSQ, which is common. Thanks for that clarification.
Asnebumskit Hill in Paxton is a very high hill located outside of Worcester, which is 25 miles west of Boston. It has a bunch of towers on it, including a major market FM. Appreciate all you do here!

It's common practice on commercial repeaters/base stations to suppress PL encoding during Morse Code ID's.

The idea is that you meet legal ID requirements by transmitting the CW call sign but users on your system (with receivers protected by a CTCSS or digital squelch code) don't have to hear Morse Code over and over during the work day.

Very good conditions today. Some of these stations I have not heard since 2017, 2015 and even 2011.

I've wondered this for a while. Do we see more activity in the lower 30MHz are because it travels better, or is there just more traffic there?

It (IMHO) hard to answer as there are too many variables.
a. Start with the FCC/NTIA allocations - jumps around the band
mixing Business, Federal, Local Governments and Public safety in various portions.
b. Who is left, many Public Safety have moved to trunks, a few left which does make it
easier to ID those, but then more businesses still use it (if it works, don't fix it )
c. Likely a little - as the band/skip opens lower and moves higher

I'm sure the diehards will also add some more

I think traffic has been there, albeit diminished in numbers. Bigger reason is propagation. It's been insane at times.

I'm surprised that 30.840 has not been reported. I have never caught a call sign. Someone up near Ste St Marie, MI has been on that frequency with what sounds like maritime work. Sounds like crews working either maintenance, or loading operations from the lingo used. I can't seem to find a record of it in US/Canadian records. It is an itinerant channel, so it could be mobile crews like us.

kkn50's posts have me interested in paying more attention to LB transmissions.

EDIT: the band has been open up here in the north-midwest. There has been a few mornings FM and 2-meter DX has been awesome.

I was able to log 10 stations from California, 7 of which I've never heard before. all stations were between 15:30 and 17:30 on 10/6. Had I got home from work just a bit earlier I would have been able to hear them live. luckily I have ProScan running!

The first time I've ever heard any CHP station was back in February of this year. Those stations being a personal record for the FURTHEST I've ever received any low band frequency. (previously being Costa Rica)

Not Itinerant..

30.84 Mobile 11, 12.

(11) Operation on this frequency is limited to a maximum output power of 2 watts; and each station authorized will be classified and licensed as a mobile station. Any units of such a station, however, may provide the operational functions of a base or fixed station on a secondary basis to mobile service operations, Provided, that the separation between the control point and the center of the radiating portion of the antenna of any units so used does not exceed 8 m (25 ft.).

(12) This frequency may not be used aboard aircraft in flight.

Interesting. I had 30.84 as Itinerant since 07/29/2016. We used it for logging operations. Recently deleted it due to interference around the Great Lakes.

Maybe the allocations were changed due to proximity with Canada; These are the only LB itinerants today:
-----------------------
27.49 Base or Mobile 10.
35.04 Base or Mobile 10.
43.04 Base or mobile 17.

(10) This frequency will be assigned only to stations used in itinerant operations, except within 56 km (35 miles) of Detroit, Mich., where it may be assigned for either itinerant or permanent area operations (i.e., general use).

(17) This frequency will be assigned only to stations used in itinerant operations.
